Wow a Korean place that does delivery?! Yes please!!! Did it deliver on time? On the dot! Did it deliver on food? Ehhhh..maybe not. I ordered the pork bulgogi and seafood stir fry. Pork bulgogi had the authentic deep flavour that I’ve always known and loved. However the seafood was a major let down. Barely 4 bits of calamari and 2 prawns swimming in a pool of soggy lettuce and sauce. We also ordered the kimchi pancake which was also mediocre. Sides dishes were a small wedge of kimchi and a microscopic chunk of broccoli. On the plus side, they included salad and rice with every main. Although I wouldn’t spend $50 on a delivered meal like this. Very disappointing.
Wanted to give them a try. Asked for delivery. Was told it would take 2 hours. I couldn’t even mention I might pick it up because they hung up on me so quickly. Worst service in Melbourne.
Since we were staying in Bentleigh short term we wanted to eat somewhere close by. We chose Kimcheese, which is in a quieter area of Centre Road with not much else around it. The restaurant seems like it wasn’t fully changed over from a different restaurant so a large counter and unused cooking space bisects the restaurant and takes up a lot of room. We had the kimchi seafood pancake and the Korean fried chicken ($17.50, not on printed menu but appears on Menu Log so we had to ask about it). We enjoyed the crunchy hot fried chicken. The pancake was crispy, but didn’t have much soft texture inside that I’m used to. The sauce for the pancake was also very strong, so we had to lightly dip it. The server wasn’t the greatest, but I was surprised that the cook also came out part way through our meal to check on us. The space was cold and empty so not very enjoyable for dining, but the price of food was pretty cheap too.
I had Pork Bulgogi the other day, the potion was enough for one person and the food was quite close to authentic Korean food except the sauce for the meat was a bit too sweet and not spicy enough. However for the price I paid, I am quite satisfied.
Good business, if you want a small quick fix of Korean food that’s not so expensive, then Kimcheese is a good option. It’s small but the chef/owner does a pretty good job. I always love coming to this place when I’m craving some kimchi seafood stew
Consistently good food and a great place for modern Korean. Eventually you’ll find yourself craving the special fried chicken like I did, I highly recommend it. Beef bulgogi was good, but bimbimbop a little mediocre compared to other places. But overall, a great place to dine.
Kimchi Soup and Korean Fried Chicken.. so good and the food was fresh, also services were great and friendly. For sure, I will tell friends to visit and I’ll come back.
