My husband and I dropped by for lunch on Monday. My husband had tried the Hot Local Burger a couple of months ago, while he found it nice, it didn’t wow him. We came here to give it another chance.
Both of us ordered the Big Cheese $9.8, one of which in a meal combo. The Big Cheese is your stock standard beef patty cheese burger. I do agree with other reviewers pointing out that charging $1 for tomatoes is a bit cheeky, considering it’s pretty stock standard burger filling.
The store wasn’t too busy and the wait time was OK. I’m very much on the fence about the burger. The burger wasn’t so big or salty that I couldn’t finish, but it was big enough to be filling. The beef patty, a bit thin, was heavily seasoned with herbs, not a bad flavour mind you, but I can taste that there was also a good amount of filler mixed in so it wasn’t just a pure-meat patty. Even though we both had the Big Cheese, I feel that they lacked consistency. My husband’s burger had way more pickles (donated to me anyway) and more burger sauce; while mine had a tiny slice of pickle and barely any sauce.
The chips, also heavily seasoned with herbs, were crunchy enough on the outside, but I would have preferred it to be more fluffy inside.
I must say the food quality was not bad, but so far I haven’t been wowed.
