I went here for a family members birthday on a Saturday night.
Service: Appetizers only took about twelve minutes to arrive, and the mains and desserts were nearly as quick. Our server was lovely; very polite, attentive, and friendly.
Food: I liked the croquettes; they were fluffy and flavorful. The Marco Pollo was very nice; the gnocchi was cooked wonderfully. As for desserts, I have one question;
WHY OH WHY DID THEY USE ARTIFICIAL BANANA FLAVORING IN THE ICE CREAM!?
I ordered the cheesecake because I liked the idea of fresh banana ice cream, and what I received was something I couldnt eat. Not only did it not go with the cheesecake, the flavor was just plain weird. It was like eating Runts candy.
Someone else at my table had the Creme Brle; which was okay, but underneath the caramelized sugar layer, was a layer of uncooked sugar granules. Not exactly enjoyable to eat.
On a positive note; my husbands chocolate mousse was AWESOME.
Id definitely come here again, but I might forgo the desserts next time.
Been a customer of Shanikas in Berwick for many years. Service is always wonderful and waiters are cheerful and always make an effort. Also very accommodating when arriving without a booking for a last minute meal out, been a couple of times and they have always found a table. Lemon Calamari is awesome and i like the old classics, like the Ray Special Pasta.
Not sure why this place ranks only 3.9. Fresh and well cooked food, thoughtful and challenging menu with great service and atmosphere. Ate here last night before a show and could not ask for better food or service. I note the comments on the price, and yes, maybe a few dollars more than some but happy to pay that for a great meal everytime.
Takes us about 50 minutes to get to Shanikas but always worth the trip. Food and service always great. Specials tonight were on point Pork Belly amazing and Barrumunbi yummo. Hubby loved his choice from Main Menu.
This is a cracking suburban restaurant. Great menu and very friendly service. My pasta was delicious and cooked perfectly which is all you can ask for. Each time I have visited it has been very busy but we were still looked after as if we were the only customers.
Wow!! This place is so over rated!! The decor is so dated! The food is average and very very overpriced!!! I have been a few times and only because I have been dragged there due to peoples birthdays and other functions! Every time I eat there I leave shaking my head,, and not in a good way!! These people have no idea what Italian good is!!!
