First time visitor based on previous reviews and looking for somewhere close-ish. Ordered flake, hamburger with the lot, potato cakes and min chips..
A smidgen above average. Not the best potato cakes I’ve had and chips fried well; lightly golden, but a bit dry.
Flake was nice (batter maybe a bit heavy). Would give them a second go.

The best I’ve had in Melbourne…. Thank goodness this is local because this is now my all time favourite fish and chips place. No need to travel far and wide to those who claim to be the best. This little hidden treasure in the back-streets of Blackburn is sure to become very popular once word gets around. Chips and potato cakes are the best!
Surprisingly it’s good!!. I set my hope low for this one driving home from that area thought I’ll grab something on the way back. gobsmacked that this place is actually good.. Fish box…Great chips and potato cakes, seriously.

Always good food. Ive been taking my kids to the book store every now and then and we would grab fish and chips after it . We love the food ! Very consistent, always well cooked and always fresh. I guess because they are honest and don’t take short cuts, very hard working . So well deserve my like guys!!
Consistently good food here – crunchy chips, well cooked fish and reasonably priced, friendly staff. Way better than other fish and chip places in the area.
My all time favorite fish and chippery! Chips taste fresh and oil is clean. Fish is beautifully battered. Staff are friendly. Highly recommend!
Fish has too much batter on it. Burgers have very little lettuce and two very small thin slices of tomato. Chips are usually good although they’ve made the boxes smaller which means you get way less than you used to for $3. You feel pretty gross after you eat a meal from there and can kind’ve feel the oil gushing around in your stomach. But hey, there’s not much to chose from in the area when it comes to walking distance so if I’m feeling like a takeaway feast, fish and chips box it is. Pretty good service.
