As a single business traveler I often find it difficult if not a little intimidating to go to restaurants alone resulting in many nights of room service and two minute noodles.

But after visiting Amor Mexico on a particularly lonely night, I am very happy to report that the warm and welcoming staff (not to mention the yummy food and cosy atmosphere) prompted a return visit a week later.

And although the staff were different, the way they made me feel genuinely welcome and better still, appreciated for my choice to dine with them, was exactly the same as the first time.

The restaurant was quite busy the first night and apart from the volume of the two large tables celebrating birthdays (they weren’t that loud – I’m just a grumpy old man!) the service was equally as wonderful as that of the second occasion when there were only 4 or 5 tables of two dining.

I ordered different drinks and meals each time and everything was delicious and reasonably generous in size adding good value for money to the list of positives of this place.

If you or you and your friends/family are ever in Forest Hill – or within 20kms of Forest Hill – and feel like some yummy Mexican and great hospitality, drop in to Amor Mexico.

PS. I talked with the owner on my second visit and was informed it has been a Mexican restaurant for 30 years and hasn’t changed hands on the last 15 – which I guess is testimony to my very positive review.

To begin with, the menu is well and truly overpriced. The food doesn’t even justify the crazy price! The nachos were certainly microwaved which explains the overheated plate which results in waitresses delivering food to your table with a cloth to protect their hands from third degree burns. The food is just terrible and not even worth the visit! I was not satisfied and won’t be returning. Adios amigos!

On arrival we were greated with 5 corn chips for our table of 5. The items on the menu are well and truly overpriced for the microwave quality that you receive. A pair of gloves is required if you wish to move your plate as the temperature you receive them at is close to what you would experience on the sun. Overall the experience was not pleasant and will not be returning

Offers the best Mexican food selection; equipped with genuine, pleasing and accommodating staff at any time. The ambience was very warm. I also get to use my Liven App here and I got my $50 rebate. My friends and I are now patrons

I was really hoping to enjoy Amor’s as it my new local Mexican restaurant. But unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food, I would compare it to a frozen generic Mexican microwaved meal, or bland as my partner put it. With not even a fresh salsa to be seen to give it a lift. The service was good although didn’t have the first two Mexican beers I ordered in stock.

I love this place! I came here last night with my boyfriend primarily for the fish bowls and wow, they were great! They were totally worth the $38 dollars and they were so delicious. The staff were very good and enthusiastic about their job – this always creates a positive experience. And WOW their nachos were brilliant – the salsa was too die for! I’ll definitely be back to try more meals on their menu!
