Great new cafe that just opened in the Blackburn strip! Great for chilling out on the weekends. Love the general vibes and the quirky little collection of books
A fairly new cafe in Blackburn, it has trendy look and lots of space. Food offered on menu is pretty standard, tried the grilled veg roll, was ok. Bit pricey for the serve size and average ambience. Service is good though, friendly staff.
Coffee and freshly made croissant! Yum! Perfect for everyday breakfast! Right outside station very convenient! The shop has a simple yet modern look. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely return.
Very lovely staff, kid friendly environment they can read books when adults having a chat. Limited foods option but still decent. Quick and nice coffee especially a quick cup to grab on the way to work by car/train. Highly recommend.
Fat Cup is the light and bright new kid on the block in Blackburn. Floor to ceiling windows let the light in while sleek copper and stainless steel coffee machine shines up a treat on the white tiled counter/bar. There is a bookshelf with books to read if you have the time and the tables spread out and roomy.
The shop cabinet was full of lovely things and I was immediately drawn to the lemon tart. I asked if there was a menu but was told its only what is in the cabinet. This was quite surprising given as given the amounts of seating and the space this cafe takes up I had expected a more extensive options … perhaps a work in progress?
They have a couple of coffee blends available, their house and their strong blend. I opted for their strong blend and found it to be not that strong so perhaps I need an extra shot no matter what coffee blends are on use these days.
This place has good intentions – stylish set up, enthusiastic staff, plenty of space and offers a range of books should one be in the mood to read.
Unfortunately, it’s missing something. Perhaps it is a lack of healthy and fresh food or a full kitchen menu.
The coffee is not up to scratch for Melbourne. It’s not difficult to get coffee right – the staff should just go to the most popular coffee spots in Melbourne, watch them and copy them (Proud Mary would be a good start). The soy milk isn’t pleasant.
I really want this place to do well as I appreciate that they are investing in Blackburn and the staff seem pleasant, but they will need to give people more of a reason to come here as the alternatives are currently offering better coffee and better food.
Having said all that, the croissants are yummy!
What a great cafe!!! Just opened in the area…. I have been in a couple of times now, and the service is still impeccable, the food is great (not a huge selection, but definitely more than enough) the croissants that they bake on site are amazing!!! And thats not even mention the coffee!!!! OMFG the coffee is divine!!!!
I tried the iced coffee today, had to be one of the best!!! I asked for an extra shot, wow!!!!
Give it a try, and youll only be going to this cafe from here on in!!!!
