Decided to visit this restaurant on reccommendation from a friend. Ordered the rice noodle with stewed pork intestines, lemongrass seafood hot pot and Yunnan mushroom and chicken rice noodles. My favourite was the stewed pork intestines. Just a warning, it has a good heat kick to it. The mushroom and chicken is suitable for people who cannot handle spiciness while maintaining a great soup base. The seafood hot pot was mildly spicy with a decent mixture of seafood and vegetables.
Came here with the family for dinner on a weekday night. This place is pretty popular and its quite busy, however service is still very fast and efficient. The noodles here are delicious and the portion sizes are very generous too. The Crossing-Bridge Rice Noodles is always a must-order for us – the broth is just so warming and flavourful, and the noodles are perfect. The Little Pot Rice Noodle with Stewed Pork Mince is also very good if you like a bit of spice, and the Cold Ice Noodles with Shredded Chicken and Pork Mince is also super good!
If you like your soup noodles, this place is for you! It has plenty from the menu from spicy to non spicy. The soup is very addictive, massive portion! The noodles can easily cater for two. Highly recommended!
Ordered a wild mushroom chicken noodles and a spicy mince pork noodles, both are good but I prefer the former one more given a flavorful mushroom broth! Rice noodles were fresh and springy, dishes were ready quickly after I placed the order, I would give extra point because they were served hot. The spicy one was average to me, the broth was exotic and tangy even I ordered little spicy, so I like the chicken one better.
It’s always hard to decide what to eat when in Box Hill and when our friend recommended Colourful Yunnan, we headed straight in without hesitation.
Big spacious interior with lots of seating, and our orders were taken promptly. Our eyes were bigger than our tummies and we ended up with too much food. No complaints though as they were mostly delicious!
The rice noodle with pork mince and rice noodle with stewed pork intestines were absolutely bursting with flavour. A nice hint of spiciness that wasn’t overpowering, and a kick of sourness from the preserved veggies. The noodles were firm yet bouncy – perfection! Not surprisingly, both dishes were rather oily so if that’s not your thing, you might not find it pleasing.
The braised pork belly and vegetables hot soup was rich and flavourful, but slightly too salty for me.
The brown sugar steamed bun with longan was incredibly soft and fluffy, with a lovely caramelised taste from the brown sugar. The sweet glutinous rice pancake was crisped on the outside, chewy inside, and doused in generous amount of brown sugar syrup that had to be scrapped away if you don’t have a sweet tooth.
The yoghurt drink with purple sticky rice was yummy, and the one with the chunks of bread in it (forgot the name) was pretty ordinary.
Slightly above average service compared to some Asian restaurants, and my partner even managed to procure a complimentary sticker from them.
Is a not bad experience for yunnan food. I been the other restaurant in burwood, most of the menu are same, this restaurant has lots of choice for soup rice noodles. I like the spicy and traditional one.
There were a lot of waiters, but they couldn’t concentrate on service. I saw my drink sitting on the bar for a long time, and no one brought it for me. The food was spicy and I wanted some tissues. It took a long time to get waitress attention, very embarrassing.
