I went into Hao’s Oriental Grill Bar not really knowing what to expect. I had just finished doing my tax return and wanted to try a restaurant I’ve never been to around the area. I thought I was going to grill my own food, but soon found out it was already done for me, no biggie!
As soon as I walked in, the restaurant just looked shabby and run down. I can’t even sugar coat this, it was like they grabbed a street food place in Asia, and moved it inside. If you’re big on hygiene, I’d say it’s best to avoid this place. The toilets were in pretty rough shape too. I’ve been to worse places in Asia so it didn’t bother me that much, as long as I don’t get food poisoning (so far so good).
The menu is based on primarily skewers and other hot/cold dishes. The skewers is pretty much what most people come here for. They’re pretty good value ranging from $1.50 onwards. We got some chicken and lamb skewers, they were very tasty and the meat was tender. We had it with some rice, but if you don’t feel like too much carbs then a lot of people just have them on their own.
We were feeling generous after our tax return so decided to splurge on some abalones and scallops. The abalone was the smallest I’ve ever seen, $6 each can’t really complain I guess. They were delicious, but a little on the salty side. I pushed half the sauce off and it was perfect. The foods here are all best enjoyed with a TsingTao beer! Nice place to come, have a beer and skewers, and just chill…
Service was handled by a single waitress. There was a little language barrier. She didn’t seem very bright either, but at least she tried. She was smiling and tried to provide some type of service, so I’m not gonna hold this against her. At least she didn’t have an attitude. Overall I thought it was an okay place and I didn’t mind it at all. As long as you’re not a clean freak, or have really high expectations then this place aren’t too bad!

Such great good ; skewer heaven .
The chef is excellent at what he does and runs a tight ship
Morguemans parents go. Morguemans dad is a chef of 40yrs and an odd sense of humour. This is an emailed review of his..
Le critique, greeted by non English speaking waitress who virtually sprints into kitchen to find English speaking waitress waitress appears and seats us next to fridge with phallic image of Tsingtao beer bottle urging me to try one, it succeeds, I order one, large or small, large of course, one king brown Tsingtao at room temperature is served, how refreshing. Large laminated graphic menus are produced for porrusal, we order contepory items as it is our first time, the ducks tongues were interesting, very tasty, so too the pork intestines, lamb kidneys delicious, non English speaking waitress wacks 6 skewers of meat on our plate, mum wacks one in her mouth, english speaking waitress grabs remaining skewers, wrong table. Lamb rribsgreat, scallops very nice, egg plant great. Saw great looking dumplings and kimchi and will try next time. we will go back again with COLD beer.

5guys who have done a lot of Os travelling walk in. We get ibteresting stares but are welcomed. Glaf they have a menu with pics becuase they didnt really understand our orders. Now. Beer was cold dishes were flavoursome. Simple authentic asian hawker style food. Signature lamb ribs were great. Loved iy. the signature veg salad wad also great. Kimchi needed more heat and soureness. The pork belly soup was clean and would have been great as an entree. Skewers were good. Duck tongue was intetesting. Eel was beautiful. Its ashame we realised after that we think its charged by the kilo so the $18 eel was per kilo not for one serve. Check next time. All in all a very enjoyable meal.
Fun. Went here a while ago with my father was a fun dining experience but lay off the chili next time all the food was pre marinated in chili and was bloody hot
The fridge is never cold enough, drinks are always room temperature

It’s ok, would be better if they can use more different seasoning rather than just chili. Everything is covered with chili there, all taste the same – hot
WOW. Sampled the signature lamb ribs last night after an excellent meal at Loi Loi and was blown away by the flavor.
A truly unique culinary experience. My taste buds are still dancin’.
Will be back to sample the rest of the menu.
Even vegetarians can rest assured they’ll be properly catered for as this delicious chines barbecue. The vinegar salad options are delicious and the jellied fungi salad was something I’ve never tasted before. Went excellently with the bbq’d tofu.
