Can’t leave Box Hill without getting myself a bubble tea! Decides to try out Tea Royale as I was attracted by the sleek and welcoming fit out.
I ordered the Taro Milk Tea with pearls and taro balls. The drink itself was fairly too sweet for me even with half sugar, and while the taro flavour was pronounced enough, it was overall quite ordinary. The pearls were soft and chewy, but lacking the bouncy texture. The taro balls were chewier, and I mean that in a good way. If not for the texture, I couldn’t really differentiate the taste between the pearls and the taro balls as the taro balls held no distinct flavour.
At $0.50 for each additional toppings, excluding taro balls and cheese foam, this present good value for money compared to some other bubble tea shops.
No queues here compared to a neighbouring bubble tea shop, and I was served quickly and received my drink shortly after. All round friendly service. Paying using WeiXin gets you 5% off your total bill.
Just the typical milk tea that one has come to expect, nothing outstanding. Its probably the pretty decor that sets this store apart from the others in the area (colourful forest backdrop, pot plants, lights, large bronze/metallic menus etc…). Its not a store where you can sit and chat with friends, but rather where you just stop by to grab a drink. Very friendly staff and quick service.
