Had dinner here and it was okay, spent $285 for 5 ppl so i guess it was quite expensive like others said. The broth itself was not that special, cant taste anything but oil, the oxtail tomato was okay.
The dessert that we ordered (forgot the name but its in the pic with crushed peanut on top) was awesome.
The pork ball with corriander was a disaster, dunno what the chef did but it was sooo mushy even how long we cook it still no dif.
Service was great, fast, friendly and attentive.
Overall was okay, will i go back? Maybe no considering the price and quality.
Worse than the ones in Shanghai.
The food did not worth the price.
There is nothing else but spicy, which is not enough among hot pots of boxhill.
Maybe will come back again but it will take some time. So many better places than it.
Still my first choice even tho therere many new hotpot places. Excellent service, authentic taste and reasonable price. The self service sauce table was great. Staff there were so friendly and patient.
Quite expensive for the amount of food we had ordered. The best hot pot ingredients were the meat balls platter and the duck blood pudding. The fried rice was bland and frozen vegetables were used. The drink we ordered was an ice tea however it tasted like the plum drink.
Upon arriving on time for a reservation for 7, we were left waiting at the door for fifteen minutes, before being offered a table for 6. Apart from the poor first impressions, the service was fine for the majority of the meal. Cute bibs were offered (useful to protect your clothes if ordering a spicy soup base). The food was about average for hotpot, with a good entre and spicy soup base and a mediocre non-spicy soup base.
However, the experience left a sour taste when we were billed for sauces, despite not using any (and despite them being able to confirm that none were used). While questioning this charge, I was rudely told that by entering their restaurant, I was expected to do whatever they wanted, then farewelled with dont come back again.
Admittedly, I wouldn’t expect a normal meal here to have these problems – as long as you don’t question anything they say
Food : Serves an authentic version of the Chongqing hot pot complete with the super spice soup! It gets hotter as you go along, and all the ingredients we had were really fresh and went well with the hot pot. Myriad of sauces for you to combine to your heart’s desire.
Service : great, the servers were very attentive.
Ambience : nice surroundings for having a hot pot. We were here during lunch hour.
I heard a new hotpot place was opening in boxhill so I had to try it. Considering it was a Saturday and afl grand final it would slightly redeem the fact I had to wait 2 hours to get a seat with another 15 or so other groups. My partner and I finally sat down starving hoping it was really worth the wait. We were given a menu with heaps of boxes to tick but the waiter was making it very awkward considering he expected us to tick what we wanted in that very instance. We felt very uncomfortable but eventually placed our order. Some likes would definitely be the chilli soup, prawn balls and the watermelon juice. Everything else we ordered was quite below average. Also considering the price was kind of expensive for two people.
