  Very friendly staff and cosy place with heaps of seating. Coffee is nice and comes with mini donuts which is a bonus. Kid friendly with play area for them

  Walked past and decided to try for breakfast. Staff were very friendly and helpful, truly amazing service. The people working there genuinely seemed happy to be there which is really nice. The food was great, really delicious. The serves are huge especially for the price but they were also really tasty. Photo doesn’t do justice to how good the food actually tasted. Very happy we came here for breakfast!

  I came here on a Sunday morning at 10am.The restaurant was busy but we were able to get a table for my group of 6.Before we were seated, the waiter Zander warned us that food would be a 40 minute wait, which we thought would be fine. Knowing that there was a delay with food, we quickly called Zander over and ordered our food and coffees. This was at 10:05am.We ordered 5 of the Spanish Baked Eggs and 1 big breakfast.40 minutes had gone past, and we still had not received out coffees which we thought was odd.It was clear that many people had come and gone with their take away coffees so we weren’t sure why there was a delay with our ones. We called over and asked Zander where our coffee were, quickly our coffee came out after that. We were not offered an explanation or apology though.He actually acted confused when we told him it had been 40 minutes since we ordered, there seemed to be no customer awareness or care.By 10:45am now, Zander came back to our table and asked for a volunteer from our group who had ordered the baked eggs. We were quite confused and waited for him to finally continue to tell us they had run out of the baked eggs and could only manage to make 4. So, one of our group changed their baked eggs to the scrambled eggs and added smoked salmon.We didn’t mind that so much, but started to wonder 45 minutes in had they only just started preparing our food? By 10:50 3 of our group got quite hungry and quickly went to the pie restaurant 2 minutes from Blackbird cafe.In that time we all ordered and ate a pie and when we got back at 11am, our food still was not ready.Now 11:10, one of our group went up and asked if our food would be next to be prepared and the lady at the register just said yes than looked away. Once again no explanation or apology.11:20am the food finally came out, once again no apology or explanation. The baked eggs were so dry, there is no sauce just egg and chorizo and a couple olives, not sure why there is a side of bread as there isn’t any sauce to dip it in. Just added more dryness to the dry baked eggs.The big breakfast and scrambled eggs were okay though.Overall, it was a terrible experience at Blackbird cafe. I’m not so annoyed at the fact that there were such delays as the cafe was busy at the time. I’m happy to wait and extremely forgiving if there are issues but it annoys me when staff don’t care to come over and let us know or even offer apologies. There were other tables in the cafe also questioning waiters where the food and coffees were.On a positive note, the coffees were quite good.

  The coffee is great but u have to wait for ur food for a decade ! So poor service literally !! It was 40 min to get a brekkie ready , food is good
