Have been wanting to check out Swaad for a long time. Indian is not our thing so we were quite nervous stepping in. Fine dining feel but friendly service. Menu was fairly easy, we ordered at ease with some help. Very tasty meal. Lovely naans go so well with the butter chicken. Would have liked more meat in our biryani & a larger portion to satisfy. Pleased that they offer 10% discount for cash payment!
Holy tandoori! I cant believe how long this place has been sitting in my bookmarks!
Mainly home cooks by night, its not very often we eat out for dinner, and too uninspired to cook that evening, I leapt at the opportunity to come here since theyre only ever open for dinner. Unsure of how busy they get given it was a Saturday night, I booked a table anyway just to be safe.
When at an Indian restaurant, surely you got to have a Mango Lassi and boy, these guys sure know how to whip up a wicked one! Thick and smooth with prominent mango flavours and just the right amount of sweetnes, it was superb!
I love all things mushroom and naturally couldnt resist the Mushroom Tikka. These firm and spongy tandoor cooked mushrooms had a small kick of heat that was nicely balanced out by the yogurt marinate. Add a drizzle of mint chutney over the top, and you have a winner!
Meaty yet soft to the bite, the Seekh Kebab was simply luscious from the first mouthful to the last, and once again that delicious chutney just bound everything together nicely. By this stage, we were already off to a good start and getting all geared up for mains.
With an option of roti, naan or rice included with each main course, we decided on the Lamb Bhuna with rice and Beef Vindaloo with naan. Behind the distinctive flavours and characters of each dish was the depth and complexity of spices so brilliantly controlled.
Last but not least, we treated ourselves to some icy cold Pistachio Kulfi which was ever so decadent yet worth the extra calories, sealing the deal for us.
Service was nothing short of exemplary. Impeccable from the start, not a moment were we made to feel neglected or unwelcome and even received a follow up text the next day thanking us. Hows that for great hospitality!
Was going through an Indian food phase, so I looked for the best rated Indian restaurant around my area and found this gem. The first thing I noticed walking into the restaurant is that the inside is bigger than the entrance would otherwise lead you to believe, with a premium fine dining feel.
We started with the meat tasting plate, which had a combination of chicken and sausages. We followed up with spinach delight with paneer (cheese) and this is by far the best palak paneer I have tasted, combined with garlic naan makes it a dish to die for, highly recommended dish. Rogan josh was also fantastic.
What really impressed me was the service. The staff were respectful and friendly, also very attentive, really makes you feel like you are dining at a Michelin 3 star restaurant. Would definitely return for more.
