The restaurant was not full when four of us arrived with a booking, but still we waited an hour before receiving our first course, without any explanation or attention. There was only one waiter, who was amiable, but had more than enough to do. When our first course finally arrived, the owner approached our table, and my husband, who had ordered Moules la Provenale asked where the mussels came from. He was told From the sea in a manner that indicated he had asked a stupid question. My husband was insulted, but persevered with a second question From which sea? expecting perhaps a light hearted response, but the only answer was I dont know and the owner moved on rather haughtily. The four of us were bemused, to say the least, that in this case the customer was not always right. We do not go out to be insulted by the owner, so there is no point in giving ratings for ambience, food etc. , and we do not intend to return.
Beautiful place, excellent food and services and friends staffs. Enjoy a lot. My request to everyone to come and enjoy the french dishes at reasonable price.
Wow, you just wouldn’t guess this place from the outside but it really opens up once you are through the door, very calm and classy interior fit out – this is the sort of restaurant that turns back time a bit – mostly carpeted, lots of space between the tables, uniformed wait staff and a pretty traditional French menu.
And it is refreshing and they do it all very well.
We had the Pheasant pate and Escargot as entrees, you could absolutely be in France. Both were very faithful renditions. Next was the Beef Cheeks and the Pork Belly. Again both were really simple, beautifully prepared dishes with that sort of richness that is typical of French bistro type meals.
Wine list is extensive, lots of French options and we thought very reasonable, plenty of options in the $45 to $60 range. The service is excellent. Put this on your list to try. We will definitely be back and I have a feeling that bookings will soon be difficult to make as word spreads.
