I brought the family for lunch here today during the Martin Street Festival. As we are not locals, I thought I would just go to the nearest fish and chip shop and hope we get lucky with quality food.

First impression, average shop with very pleasant customer service, nothing really stood out as being extra special or over the top, I was happy to just get a quick, cheap and easy lunch to feed the family.

Once the food was served, everyone was impressed with how juicy and thick the flake was. The chips and fried foods were fresh and it was obvious that the oil was clean given the colour and texture.

For myself, I ordered just 1 seafood skewer, as I really wanted to know properly how well this place serves fresh seafood.

I was so disappointed honestly, the skewer was flavourless, The skewer was 1 calamari ring, 1 scallop, 1 mussel and 1 prawn with a sliver of yellow capsicum in between for $9.50, I felt let down for the following reasons:

I only ate 1 piece of calamari and 1 prawn (barely stomached that flavour.) Both tasteless but i was able to chew it, the capsicum was not very complimentary on the skewer, I got to the next two items on the skewer; the scallop and muscle….. both were inedible, gritty, shrunken, not as fresh as I like it, and completely unseasoned.A suggestion would be to season the skewer with salt and pepper, at least, a little lemon, add more the one piece of calamari, no need for the capsicum, instead garnish with a small fresh side salad and a vinaigrette.

We will be back for the flake though.

Always made to feel welcome and they even stayed open one night past closing to allow us to finish eating outside. A+++
