Shitty curry but the best part was the four days (so far) of pissing out of my rear end and incredible stomach cramps iv been getting every fifteen minutes. My GP referred me to the hospital because of the stomach pain… Ended up getting a drip in the hospital and prescribed 3 different pills.
When Iv got the strength back to drive. Will be going in to demand a refund.

Avoid this place and especially the goat vindaloo and mutton chops like you would avoid a Bubonic rat.

My favourite place for Indian food
Their chicken or fish tikka masala is my favourite and their cheese or garlic naans are the best I’ve tried in Melbourne
Doesn’t look very modern and it usually empty but that doesn’t stop me from coming here

. Quick service (takeaway, and very early in the evening so restaurant was quiet) but food was not great- the dosa was disappointing- very soggy and oily -the roti was similar, and the eggplant curry was a little bland. Maybe i ordered badly, or maybe it would have been better to eat in.

  • Having read mixed reviews we decided to order takeaway from Bilal. We are great fans of Singhs in Nicholson Street and felt quite adventurous trying an alternative. It was very easy to order online, and to pay with paypal – with free delivery over $25 we opted for this. We got an SMS with the delivery time (nearly an hour) and it arrived right on time. The menu is large and has some different items to your standard indian restaurant. We had Samosas which had lovely pastry and were very tasty. We followed this with a vindaloo and Tika masala, supported by a potato stuffed roti. All were delicious. The sauces were much lighter than Singhs, but felt like they were freshly made with fresh ground up spices. Having eaten our fill there was enough left for a light lunch the next day. All in all a lovely meal and we will explore more items on the menu.

Despite the fact that this place looks like the decor hasn’t been updated in 30 years, it’s pretty good. I guess it adds to the authenticity of it all, because half of the joints I went to in India looked exactly the same.

The first thing I noticed was how cheap the food is. Second thing, the menu looks even older than the decor. Your standard Indian favourites are all here and nothing is over $13. The vegetarian options are all sub $10. We had the Chicken Rendang and the Lamb Korma, which were both pretty good. The food is unpretentious and probably won’t knock your socks off, but for under $13 a dish, it’s great quality and excellent value. I would describe it as authentically ordinary Indian.

The staff were really friendly and made sure we were looked after.

If you’re after good quality Indian that’s dirt cheap, you can’t really go past this place.

I am very happy to have stumbled Bilal! For a Wednesday night, it was just the basic and non-frills meal I was looking for. Good and tasty, the staff very friendly and the decor cosy.

Chicken randang was colourful and hearty, the lamb korma was my favourite despite it initially looking bit funky. Roti was so so delicious, overall it it hit the spot. Including a rice for 2, 2x cokes and 2x vegatable samosas the total was a measly $42. For the price, it was amazing value. i will be be back.

Best find ever! Between four people, we ordered:

    – eggplant curry
    – butter chicken
    – beef briyani
    – some fish dish (it was deep fried fish tossed in a slightly spicy sauce)
    – roti garlic x2
    – roti bom x2

The total bill came to under $57!

Of note, the roti bom isn’t what you would expect. The condensed milk was basically poured over the roti, but it was still tasty.

Also, I’m Malaysian and I can assure you our meal was very delicious.
