Finally got to visit Dood where’s my car in Brunswick. Nice little cafe, but with some comfy seating and even a few booths for larger groups.
Service was pretty solid considering there was a first day trainee on the floor.
Coffee was OK. Little too hot.
Food was pretty good. Had a lot of interesting stuff on the menu, so will have to go back to try them.
I think the best part was the price was a lot cheaper than most cafes in Melbourne these days.
Wedged between two other ‘trendy’ cafes, we were really happy with our choice to go here. Good coffee, lovely meals, great value for the price. Try the Egyptian eggs. We’ll be back
Dood 328 is a small comforting classic indie cafe located alongside the fellow cafe competitor of Rays on Victoria Street Brunswick. This cafe although only being small with a few large tables at the front and only a couple of booths situated towards the back of the cafe near the kitchen creates a friendly relaxed environment, allowing customers to really enjoy the great service and ambiance Dood 328 offers.
Entering this cafe on a beyond freezing Melbourne Sunday afternoon a friend and I where greeted by a lovely waitress who seated as in one of the booths and presented us with menus.
We ordered hot beverages of choice being a long mac and a chai latte that arrived quickly. The Long mac was nice and hot but could have been slightly stronger. The chai latte was defiantly a winner though. The creamy texture of the aromatic drink was balanced perfectly with spice and sweetness.
After determining what our tastebuds craved for the awfully cold weather of the day we ordered classic winter dishes of the Quinoa porridge and the potato and leek soup with charred bread off the specialised board.
Our food arrived looking homely and delicious with steam escaping from the dishes.
The soup was on the salty side and the added cheese on top probably didnt do the dish any favours yet dunking the smokey crisp bread into the soup certainly did keep the palate excited. The soup was of a good consistency being nice and smooth with no large clumps of potato getting stuck in ones teeth.
The Quinoa porridge cooked in almond milk with poached pear and rhubarb, slivered almond and vanilla yoghurt was certainly the more preferred dish. The porridge was of the perfect consistency not to watery and not at all gluggy. The quinoa was cooked to utter perfection along with the soft poach fruits that maintained there shape when pulled apart. The yoghurt on top added sweetness to the dish to balance the tart rhubarb and the addition of the slivered almonds complimented the dish adding textual crunch.
After the first chai latte being so fabulous we ordered another as we indulged in Dood 328 magnificent food admiring the unique interior walls of the cafe that where lined with comic strip wall paper.
Dood 328 is a lovely cosy cafe that is sure to leave one with a full belly and not burn a hole in your pocket. The more than pleasant staff that occupy this trendy cafe truely ensures that ones dining experience is utterly enjoyable.
Great food & service. Gotta try the chicken snitzel focaccia, it’s amazing!!!! 5 people in our group of 10 have it each Sunday! Milkshakes good too.
Read raving reviews of dood328 online. Apparently were in relation to previous owner’s efforts. First impressions was just another brunswick cafe. Closer inspection revealed tattered dirty seats, kitchen staff in civilian attire and barista sneezing into his hands and continuing to serve drinks and food without washing. Scrambled eggs rubbery and unseasoned. Bacon burnt and dry. Toast unbuttered and inedible. Ordered the hash browns as a $4 extra, turns out they’re straight out of a packet. Disappointing. Won’t be going back and certainly won’t recommend it to anyone I like!
Staff were friendly and food was okay, I ordered the pumpkin and potato rosti, which was a little soggy inside. Hopefully the new owners will get the hang of it soon!
Lovely service, decent homey food and nice atmosphere. I ordered a big breakfast, which ticked off everything I love in big brekky – mushrooms, beans, tomatoes, bacon, etc. Can’t go wrong with Eggs Benedict either 😛
