This place has a great fitout, very slick and modern with that industrial feel that is so Melbourne and to an extent very Brunswick. I ordered the panini with succulent semi sundried tomatoes, pesto and mozzarella and served with a salad dressed with a tangy vinaigrette. The bread was so crispy and fresh that it cracked my front tooth on the first bite, now that’s the way a fresh baguette should behave though the truth is my tooth was on its way out. I would have given this place a 5 if it wasnt for the fact my coffee was bordering on being cold and a tad flat for my liking as i love a frothy latte. Seriously a very nice cafe.

Lobbs cafe located on Sydney Road in Brunswick is a brand new spanking modern eatery. The interior is large and inviting vibrantly lit from the high rise ceilings and window panelled entrance. The combination of outside counter seating paired with the booth and high tables seats inside, Lobbs creates a very trendy upbeat atmosphere. The open kitchen allows customers to observe the food run off the pass and the central barista station reveals a twinkle of the magic that goes behind the machine that produces sensational coffee.

For a Sunday afternoon Lobbs wasnt overly busy but remained a consistent flow. I was greeted by a kind waitress who gestured for me to sit anywhere I pleased. I plonked myself inside on one of the many high-rise bar tables just opposite the kitchen. I was presented with to menus one being the very extensive drinks list. The menu features brunch classics with a twist as well as more sophisticated tastings for those with a more adventurous palate. I firstly order a long black brewed with Vertue beans as I decided what to order. The long black arrived promptly and was flawless. The brew was simply excellent. Acidic, tart textures with a great mouthful presenting a fruity undertone this coffee was outstanding.

After much anticipation I finally ordered opting for the almond granola. The dish was presented with attitude. Huge strawberries and blueberries where situated in the centre of the clustery sticky granola. A generous spear of luscious tart, thick and creamy natural yoghurt was whipped around with bowl. An additional serve of almond milk combined the granola and yoghurt together lifting each element of the dish. The almond granola itself was littered with seeds and chewy dried fruits offering the perfect crunch ratio. It was roasted and not overly sweet ensuring each mouthful was a textual flavour bomb. The fresh fruit added a touch of sourness further brining contrast to the elegant well presented dish.

Lobbs is a very unique cafe delivering immaculate food and coffee with a contemporary twist. Staff are very attentive and the vicinity itself is a work of art providing a great environment to dine in a classy spacious setting. The coffee is certainly a standout and its easy to see why Lobbs has hit the ground running drawing in avid foodies keen to experience all Lobbs has to offer.
