Bought a sourdough loaf from here. Was not a fan.
I am trained professionally as a pastrychef and have limited experience with bread but the flavour just didn’t seem right: the sourness was a little aggressive yet lacked complexity, the crust wasn’t great, and the texture of the inside was a bit dense. It almost seemed like it might have been made from a sourdough premix.
Tried out the pies as rolf’s pies down the road was closed. Excellent service. Sausage roll was huge and lacked flavour, pastry was below average. Steak and mushroom pie was better, pastry was perfect but filling was lacking. Comparatively it’s much cheaper than rolf’s.
Hurrah to the Master Baker! Finally a true sourdough without the need for yeast! So good for you and extremely well textured and soft. 10/10 for the bread. Love the service as always and your pies are good, but could be better (In terms of fill consistency). Kudos for the pizzas and doughnuts – but the bread that is sold here is absolutely divine. Coffees are ok too. Love the Sunday trip here, and great to be greeted with all smiles and warm hearts! 4/5.
