This cute kitten gem is next to Camberwell station and always great to pop into when Im heading to the city for a coffee. Love the big communal table plus great outdoor seating. The food is also a standout, offering a range of great dishes which you can see in my photos. Worth visiting!

I was invited to Collective today and was keen to visit given they have new management. Unfortunately it was my least favourite of all three experiences owing to their new vegan panna cotta which was truly awful. Hugely overpriced and microscopic on the plate, I wouldnt be remotely filling.

It looks pretty as a picture but isnt a panna in any sense of the word. No wobble to speak of, texturally terrible and not a lot of flavour going on either. The other new dish the curry had a lot more going for it albeit felt a little odd to be eating at 10.30am. The real delight for me here was the iced chai. This is a must order and the saving grace of the day

    Update
I was invited to collective today to check out their new menu. A lot of the crowd favourites remain the same, the visually impressive waffles and the smoothie bowl are unchanged but there is a new burger, chilli scramble and a couple of other newbies.

Unfortunately they were all out of the chilli scramble so we went with a classic, smashed avo. This was a simple rendition but very enjoyable. I also had a chai but found it a little lacking in flavour.

My husband went for the zucchini and sweetcorn fritters. They were very pretty on the plate but quite dark in colour. I kind of felt like a little something from the cake cabinet and was sad to realise they no longer have Bistro Morgan donuts although this probably worked out for the best as far as my health is concerned.

    Original review
Ive seen the insta famous gravity waffles doing the rounds on social media so I was very excited to dine as a guest of a Collective Espresso yesterday. Located in Camberwell literally across from the station and also easily accessible by tram they are in quite the handy spot and conveniently nestled amongst some decent strip shopping.

Staff were super energetic dancing around the kitchen which created a fun and buzzy atmosphere. Being another warm day we started off with a cold drip and a blueberry apple and mint slushie which was deliciously refreshing. We ordered the obligatory smashed avo which was quite a generous rendition with perfectly seasoned avo piled high atop a slice of thick multi.

There was no way in hell I wasnt ordering the waffles and they proved quite the spectacle, definitely some of the coolest presentation in Melbourne right now. The waffle itself was sensationally soft and fluffy and absolutely the ideal texture. Quite a generous serve too with two sizeable waffles on the plate.

If your sweet tooth still isnt satisfied they stock the amazing Bistro Morgan donuts as well as Sweet by nature gf cakes and a collection of in house made yummies including some delectable looking brownies.

I also tried a blueberry smoothie bowl which had the tasty addition of chunky dehydrated coconut flesh providing an interesting texture that elevated the dish. Overall vibrant, beautifully plated delicious food in a cool and relaxed atmosphere. Whats not to like?

This soft shell crab on mac and cheese croquette was a deliciously decadent treat, and being so close to Camberwell station itll be hard to resist! The vegan panacotta dessert was the lovely chaser – I would say I could love a bit more flavour than the combination of fruit

The food and coffee is fabulous here! We had the fritters and the herb crumbed mushrooms. Both were absolutely delicious and we would come back to eat these again. The coffee was excellent – this would be our local coffee stop if we lived in the area. Thanks for having us!

Has to be the best coffee house in Camberwell! Omgosh has so much food and everyone single plate tasted amazing. We had 4 people and ordered the the double… make it a beast, gravity waffle, soft shell mac and cheese and the Benedict!! So so good! Definitely a place to try. i also has the latte, the barista takes a lot of care in making the coffee, partnered with the speciality coffee beans make it a must try coffee.

Food was filling and there was quite a range to choose from. Presentations are nice and serving size are decent. Coffees were well made as well.

    Staff are friendly and attentive.

    Service was fast.

Ambience is calming and chill. Lots of seating options.

This place is sure to impress. I decided to try their famous gravity waffles and it definitely lived up to the expectations. Not your usual sweet waffles, but you will truly love the fruity fresh taste.
