Absolutely stunning traditional menu of Cretan cuisine in a wonderful location off Burke rd.
Service was very good with wonderful timing of the dishes great spacing for the large amount that was on offer. With so many dishes it was wonderful to experience a wide variety of dishes to explore the different flavours of Cretan cuisine . A highlight for us both would be the crab pasta and lakertha the house cured tuna. Really enjoying our experience at Elyros with very good value for money. If you are looking for traditional Crean cuisine it an excellent introduction and we left wholly satisfied.
To be honest our knowledge of Greek cuisine is limited to gyros and souvlaki. This place well and truly opened our eyes to how good Greek food can be. Ordered 4 course lunch which we found was great value considering the quantity of food we’d eventually have. Started with 4 different mezze plates, all delicious and varied flavours. Next was barramundi, skin seared beautifully. This was followed by 8 hour cooked lamb with chips cooked in duck fat and rocket and walnut salad. Then rice pudding with baklava sauce. Wonderful decor and relaxed ambience with impeccable friendly service from our French waiter. Highly recommended in the crowd of Bourke Street restaurants near the station. We’ll worth a revisit in the future.
The weekday set menu is excellent value at $50 for 3 courses, including a glass of wine. Starting with a selection of mezes including bread, dips, olives, kingfish ceviche, air dried pork and cheese pies, this in itself was substantial enough for a meal! The highlight was the cheese pie! This was followed by a beautifully cooked shoulder of lamb, accompanied by chips and a salad. Excellent!
