For years I have been buying croissant from Le Croissant in Toorak Road, Camberwell, Melbourne. It used to be the best in Melbourne but unfortunately I bought some today and I was extremely disappointed. It is not the same product anymore. It is not as crusty and as tasty as it used to be. I have in the past tried a frozen product from a supermarket frozen food section and it was disgusting. These croissants are very much like the frozen products. It pains me to say this, but I will have to break a long standing tradition of buying croissants from this place and try to find another bakery.
Best Mille fueille I’ve had in Melbourne. I’ve tried heaps of bakeries claiming to be the best. This one is the best so far. The pastry so flaky and crisp, custard light and delicious. Not heavy or bitter tasting. And not overly sweet. The chocolate roll cake was so good also. Light and delicious.
Bought croissants. Disappointing. Did not have the expected buttery flavour. In fact the flavour was very poor. Were not the expected flaky texture – but rather bready. The chef needs a refresher on making croissants .
Ordered the vanilla slice and the pecan pie. Best vanilla slices in Melbourne! The pastry was crispy and the cream was so delicious. I love this little place, the variety is a wide range, from cookies to truffles to croissants. It’s a takeaway place, and no seating is available here. Staff were incredibly sweet and friendly.
Best mille feuille I’ve ever eaten! Honestly. No bells and whistles just great baking. Creamy custard, crisp pastry and sticky sweet icing. Hubby had eclairs which were also pretty outstanding.
Le Croissant make the best Mille-feuille in Melbourne that rivals any French version! We often order the large size for family birthdays. They also offer other lots of lovely and freshly baked desserts and sweets, as well as fresh bread.
I have always driven past on sporadic visits to Camberwell and not realised this was actually here, what a hidden gem! I purchased the flourless orange and a strawberry tart to take to a friends place which was pronouced as divine and I tried the chocolate croissant at work- stunning with creamy dark chocolate, soft crumbly layers of pastry. Delectable.
I think I’ll be back soon x
