With so many popular cafes around the area, Legacy has been strong with the locals for the last couple years.
The exposed red brick gives it an industrial feel, and the interior is surprisingly large and features an inviting communal table stretching along the room. The floor to ceiling front windows provide a lot of natural light. at the front end of the cafe.
The menu is interesting, giving some caf classics a fresh spin but also offering some inventive dishes to the trendy and healthy folk around the area.
* Mr Brightside – The smoothie is surprisingly refreshing. The mango gives it a beautifully sweet and tropical flavour but the vivid purple colour comes from dragonfruit. Naturally, dragonfruit doesnt offer much flavour its kind of like a soft, ever so lightly sweet watermelon.
* Sushi Bowl – Its kind of a cross between a chirashi bowl (with only one kind of sashimi), and what people are calling a poke bowl these days. Whatever it is, the bowl is a pretty picture, with many elements complementing each other. The bed of sushi rice is sprinkled with furikake seasoning, providing a subtle dimension of umami, similar to the fried shallots which also have a nice crunch. The salmon sashimi is quite light in flavour but it goes really well with the roasted seaweed. I like the generous half avocado provided, and the fried egg is also a bit of luxury. Really nice dish.
* Lamb salad Its a little bit unassuming, but the lamb salad is delicious with a bit of a Middle Eastern flair. Tender pieces of lamb is shredded into the kale leaf salad and lightly dressed in a creamy but tangy beetroot pachadi, along with some lightly roasted hazlenuts. I love poking the poached egg, letting the yolk run through.
Its quite a busy caf at peak times as expected, but I really enjoyed my visit.
Thanks to the owner and the team for hosting me.
