The Rathdowne St Deli is a local cafe near my house and I frequent it all the time. Whilst the coffee is delicious and the products on offer are great, the customer service is severely lacking. Despite going there all the time, I barely am rarely acknowledged and often feel I am doing them a disservice even ordering a takeaway coffee. To be honest there is an abundance of cafes on offer on Rathedowne St who provide a much better reception, you might want to try elsewhere!
Food, produce and atmosphere keeps me coming back however, unfortunately the service leaves a lot to be desired. Not often I experience staff with such particularly unfriendly demeanours. Exceptions include: the new young blonde girl (her friendliness startled me – I almost forget where I was), and the young male who is mildly polite. Coffee is great but don’t expect them to remember your order, or even acknowledge that you look familiar after you go there every day (sometimes twice a day).
We’re here frequently for tea and croissants (best tea in the area by far). The service is mostly hit with one particular character quite a miss with simple rudeness: the only detraction from a great place. Highly recommend the takeaway dinners
A relaxing place where you can sit down and enjoy a light snack and coffee. They have newspapers and magazines on the table, which is great if you’re dropping by alone. The lamingtons here are amazing! They’re made in house several times a day, and if you happen to come in right after they’re freshly dipped then you’re in for a real treat!
Relaxing with a great choice of delicacies. There’s something about this place that is just so relaxing and lovely. Though their menu is not as extensive as other cafes in the locality, their coffee is enjoyable and their toast, croissants with jam and other menu items well priced. They also have a changing array of goodies on display daily.
Perhaps it’s the staff that make this place somewhere I love coming back to for some much needed time out from the hubbub to relax with a coffee and the paper.

Deli & Coffee. Perfect for when you have last minute guests. Good range of cheese, meats and various accompaniments. Also serves a decent cup of coffee. Yet to try the cakes and sandwiches: perhaps on the next visit. Longer opening hours in the evening would be great.
Delicious!!!. Came across this deli purely by accident and ordered the most delicious toasted ‘giant’ sandwich. Unique ingredients, fresh and full of flavour. Great atmosphere and the ladies that work in there are awesome – I think they have had it about a year now??? You have to try the salted caramel milkshake and the homemade cakes, slices etc. are sooo good… They have a great selection of meats too and quirky deli items for any special occasion. I am hooked and now a regular.
