Good place to have a quick meal or drink before the movie starts. Unfortunately they had sold out of vegetarian lasagna so I tried the cheese board instead. For $16 the cheese servings were generous. You get more value for your money with this cheese board than at other venues Ive been to. Ill be back to try that vegetarian lasagna!!!

I didn’t have any expectations, I just wanted to have a drink before my movie, so I got Butter Scotch PoP Corn which was very yummy, sweet, creamy and tasty, all sugar I need in a rainy day! I got a black beer as well that was pretty good and some bar nuts that were seasoned and served in a cone, I think my pre drinks and snack were fantastic before my movie!

As a self-confessed movie geek it comes as no surprise to anyone that gets to know me just how excited I am by films. Cinema Nova is arguably the best art house and foreign film cinema in Melbourne.

The team has a terrific selection of brand new and recent release films playing from around the world. They are also well known for putting on exclusive screenings of films that you can not watch in any other cinema in Melbourne. Playing host to lots of pop-up movie festivals through the year, the team are very good to the industry. If you work in film you get industry rates on their already very competitive ticket prices. I also love their cheap day on Mondays where you can see a film for $7 before 4PM and only $9 afterwards. Easily the best movie deal in Melbourne.

Choc tops, nice wine and a full bar add to the experience. You can even have a snack and a nice drink in their fancy bar (and beautiful balcony) before a film. The cinemas are all quite small but are very well maintained. It’s rare to find any sticky seats or spilled pop-corn in the cinema. Some of the cinema rooms are even themed with giant golden egg speakers or have couches that fit two people at once for some movie and snuggling. The staff are as hipster as hipsters can get but all have a love of cinema and will be happy to let you know what you should be watching if you are a little unsure. The almost weekly film maker Q&A sessions, film premieres and advance movie previews make this one of my favourite places in Melbourne.

This place is consistently rubbish. Tables are always filthy, half the menu is always unavailable, service is always ridiculously slow, and all at prices you’d expect at some of Melbourne’s better establishments. Really, don’t bother. This place is the pits.

Forget about every movie candy bar you have ever visited. Nova serve alcohol and $4.50 Choc Tops! Always visit this bar when I see a movie. Think of it as a Candy Bar for grown ups, where you don’t pay $30 for popcorn.

The Ice Cream next door – at the Movie kiosk is so good!. Next door at the Cinema kiosk is yummy ice creams just $4.50 for choc top, they are all yumo!

Sitting in the bar right now feeling decidedly unsatisfied after the most overpriced handful of bolognase I’ve ever had the misfortune of paying for before I ate. Staff lady apathetic, dismissive and rude. I will not be recommending this place to anyone nor coming here again. Such a shame.
