2.5Lots of Chinese locals, lots of unique dishes from a huge menu – reminds me of the restaurant No 1 Delicious.
For a main dish, you’re looking at an average of $28 which is quite expensive for a Chinese restaurant with bare bones decor.
*Stewed beef brisket – came in a dry curry-like sauce with soft potatoes.
*Grilled eggplant with hot pork mince sauce – came out wayyyy long after we finished the beef dish. I like the smooth roasted flavours from the eggplant, but the pork sauce was a little on the salty side.
I’m sure some of the other dishes are good, but the timing and execution just wasn’t there tonight.
Have only eaten here once before, and though the cuisine here doesn’t appetise me that much, my friend who was originally from China says the food is pretty authentic. I had the ‘Cross Bridge Rice Noodles’ which was noodles in a very flavourful broth and different meats and vegetables on the side. The noodles and broth were great but I would have liked more meat (they only gave a couple of slices of each). Otherwise it was a pleasant experience and I wouldn’t mind coming back for more.
A mate took me here – said he used to go quite often back in his uni days. The place was full of Chinese students which is always a good sign, and people were lining up for tables the whole time we were there. I havent had food from this region before, so let him order as he always does this well. The first dish was a cold shredded chicken dish that was swimming in chili oil. This was some of the tastiest chili oil Ive ever had and went perfect with the steamed rice. The second dish were what I could only describe as a big crackers or chips that had what seemed to be similar to thin slices of salami (a Chinese equivalent surely) . Delish and so more-ish. The lamb ribs were deep fried and juicy and fatty. A great all around meal with dishes I wouldnt normally eat – I can see why its always busy.
food 4/5
service 3/5
environment 3/5
A lot of Asian students of MU came to this restaurant. it should be great because the busy business prove this. the chicken is rich flavor and not hot spicy. Eggplant is normal. but the rice is very good, include potato and some Chinese ham or sausage, rich flavor and yummy.
