What a cosy little spot. I’ve tried the sausage roll, multiple curries, lasagne and several dessert items, all of which were fantastic. I frequented this spot even before turning vegan let alone vegetarian, and recommend it for anyone who wants a nice warm meal in a great location!
AMAZING! The place was cosy. The service was good. The food was fantastic! We had curry chickpea, roti, kale salad, lasagna, kurma curry(?), and chocolate please cake and they were all tasty. The price was inexpensive.
Ive been here a few times, Im a big fan of the coffee and the sausage rolls. A little pricey for a Uni student but all vegan so if youre in the areas you have to support, plus I love the venue and the staff!
I ordered chickpeas masala on Ubereats. It was shocking. Im not sure whos running this restaurant but that was not even close enough to being an Indian masala. It was something else, I normally try places twice to see if it was one off. I can guarantee that I dont think putting myself through that will happen again. **it could have been the rice or not. But food poisoning is not fun**
Cozy vegan eatery close to Melbourne uni.
Ambience:
The place is really homey and cozy with options to sit outside on the sidewalk or in one of the two floors of the shop.
Service: It’s a canteen like service: you choose your meal, pay and bring it to any table you prefer. People are friendly, altho service can be quicker.
Food: I’ve been here twice, had lasagna on both days and it’s definitely filling. I shared it with someone else because it was too filling for one (not that the portion is big) but for a vegan lasagna it tastes just as good as your usual lasagna, just healthier. 😉 It’s unfortunate that they no longer have the moussaka as I’ve been wanting to try it. Tried their mango lala on my previous visit which wasnt as good. My friend got a chocolate slice which was yums. Just had the matcha slice but it tasted nothing like matcha and more like simply hardened coconut milk, much disappointed. But again these are all vegan and very allergic friendly
Price: The price is decent for the portion. Although it went up from my last visit which was unfortunate but understandable.
Favorites: none atm
Nopes: Matcha slice

Mantra Lounge is a classic destination for university students or hospital workers in Carlton. The food isn’t exceptional but it provides a good vegan, vegetarian or light food alternative to other restaurants in the area. The pricing is a little steep for its quality. The staff are friendly and there is a very welcoming, cozy ambiance.
Great vegan cafe. Lasagne was amazing! Interesting menu items available for all vegan palates. Great location too near Melbourne Uni Prices are excellent!
