A bit intimidating at night – the red walls, the yellow glow of the lights but after making the brave decision to enter, the service was nice.
Ordered:
Rump steak (gf): Steak served with mash and seasonal veg and mushroom sauce ($26.00)
Review:
The steak itself was not bad – incredibly affordable compared to the $50 price tag on them when you head into the CBD. Mash was a little boring and mushroom sauce could’ve been a little more generous. The feeling of rationing out the mushroom sauce so you would have enough for every bite of steak sucks. A little more pizzazz could have gone into the seasonal veg – whether dressing it up or perhaps chargill it instead?
We also grabbed a bowl of chips which were fried incredibly well. Crispy and crunchy – what more could you want!
On the Friday night, there was a live band playing which echoed into our almost empty dining hall. A shame – The Last Jar is nice and service is friendly but atmosphere a little scary before you even enter the building. 🙁
