I was around this area after an appointment and found this nice little cafe. Ordered croissant with jam & butter and iced coffee (which the cashier wasn’t really paying attention so she got me hot chocolate instead ). The croissant was average and they toasted it for way too long that it ended up being crazily crunchy. The hot chocolate was nice – wasn’t too sweet and very enjoyable.
So it’s basically a hospital cafe. But it’s a hospital cafe with actually good food at insanely cheap prices. Really great staff. And did I mention the prices? Like $5 for a huge serving of a pasta of the day or a made to order sandwich with fresh good ingredients? Their pasta is nothing fancy but it’s properly cooked and the sauces are straightforward and delicious. Their sandwiches are freshly made with tons of bread and filling options.
It’s a super no frills, no nonsense place that doesn’t mail it in. It’s everything a hospital cafe should be.
This caf is adjacent to the Dental Hospital and not far from the university, so its primary clientele is students and professionals on the go. It is certainly not downmarket somewhere more middle ground. The dcor and building are not much to look at and are fairly utilitarian it is boxy with a glass and steel faade, and fairly plain tables and chairs. The dining space inside is moderately big, though it can get squeezy, and there is a small outside dining area. But the food punches above its weight. The menu is quite varied, without being exotic, and the food is good and the serves generous. Several times I have had veggie wraps and the like from their display cabinet, and I want to try their veggie breakfast one day. The coffee is probably not quite as good, but adequate. The service is amiable and efficient.
Food was served pretty quickly and the coffee was awesome 🙂 Also pretty relaxing inside in an area that gets very noisy and busy.
Great little cafe. Great coffee, friendly staff and very competitive prices.
Always good
This is by far the best coffee I’ve had in Melbourne. I visited this cafe daily when I worked nearby. Since changing jobs I have not found a coffee this good since. Staff are always very friendly also.
