Therere some Korean restaurants along Koornang Rd and Hankki can be above average. Fired chicken r crispy and juicy n noodles r chewy. However, service can be even better liked serving side dishes and water in time, otherwise we waited for a while and asked twice for our water.

But they dont give you any appetiser when you are ordering cheap lunch specials

Located 1 minute away from Carnegie Station, this restaurant is our go to place to satisfy our cravings for Korean food. Whenever we come here, we always order the sundae and spicy galbi jeongol in little spicy. Weve had these two dishes for at least 4 times now and it never disappoints. The spicy marinated beef comes in three different levels of spiciness. If you cannot handle your spiciness, go with the little spicy~ Although we got the little spicy, it could be spicy at times however the sweetness of the onions balances it out. You could tell the beef has been marinated for a long time, as the juiciness and wholesome of flavours could be tasted with every bite. The beef is also so tender, that it falls right off the bones. The sundae is always our favourite! Its difficult to find good sundae in Melbourne but Hankki does it well~ These two dishes are highly recommended if you decide to drop by. This time, we also ordered the mul naengmyeon because it was a humid day. It really helped us cool down prior to downing the blood sausages and spicy marinated beef. We will definitely be back once again!

    3.5 to be precise

Lunch experience here that day was synonymous to taking a ride on The Giant Drop in Dreamworld, leaving me quite torn about the scoring for the first time.

The Deep Fried Oysters and Original Korean Fried Chicken were fantastic! The fresh, creamy oysters and succulent, crispy chicken posed a promising start for more good food to come.

Indeed, that promise was upheld with the Spicy Pork with Rice – tender, smokey pork slices cooked in a sauce that had a good balance of both sweet and spicy elements.

Sadly, that was where it peaked, stopped and plunged after I tasted my Spicy Seafood Ramen. The broth was awfully bland and lacking of chilli factor. A few mouthfuls of noodles, two calamari pieces, one clam and shrimps that were no bigger than a 5c coin later, I gave up. I was defeated by this lacklustre dish.

At $10 each, the Lunch Specials are indeed enticingly cheap. The pork dish was worth every cent and more, but the ramen was a major letdown. I understand that seafood costs can be higher, hence the dismal amount given, but at least inject some love and flavour into the broth.

It wouldve been a perfect experience if not for the ramen because the other 3 dishes that we had were fabulous and service was courteous.

At least I now know better than to order the Spicy Seafood Ramen again next time.
