They don’t even know the difference between pork roll and roast pork. I ordered pork roll but then they gave me roast pork instead then said they don’t have pork roll at the moment. WHY don’t you just remove it from your menu if you don’t sell it anymore?? The taste was bad and the roast pork was cold and so oily and salty. The worst Vietnamese bread roll I have had in Melbourne so far.
We called into Koornang Hot Bread on the way to visit a sick relative and picked up some old fashions doughnuts and profiteroles to make their afternoon. Now much of a shop aesthetically but plenty of nice looking food behind the counter. The food we grabbed was tasty and honest and certainly didnt disappoint our aged rellies. For about the same price of one doughnut time doughnut we had three treats to cut up and share. I love that Melbourne still has room for these individual family run businesses in a franchised world.
Friendly staff and great service with a good variety of breads, drinks and food but the pork roll was a big disappointment. The pork was cold, the pt was tasteless and the sauce was extremely gluggy. I won’t be back.
The best banh mi (roast pork roll) you’ve ever had! This is seriously as good as you’d get in Vietnam. The bread is made in store (you can see all the machines from inside the store) and the banh mi is only $6!
They fill the banh mi with pork and crackling! Amazing!
Cheap prices compared to the nearby Brumby’s but the place is very dark and dirty looking. The food on the window is often wrapped up in tacky gladwrap and doesn’t look fresh. It’s a shame considering the good prices of everything.
This bakery has an excellent and substantial hot bahn mi for $6. Hard to go wrong with that offering. Haven’t had anything else there so this rating is based on that item alone
I came here by chance one afternoon looking for something to hit the sweet spot. I ordered a container of Turkish Delights, a round meringue and a caramel milkshake.
The milkshake was almost as expected: Right amount of syrup, frothy but a little bit too thin for my liking. Needed more ice cream. The meringue was very dry and powdery. It had been cooked way too long. The Turkish Delight tasted like it was a week old. Dry around the edges, and the flavour was off. Not enough rose water, and it tasted like strawberry fondant.
The older Greek owners were also not very pleasant or happy to see me as a paying customer. A lot of the bakery items in there were very old fashioned (70s-80s style), and did not look appealing or fresh, hence why I choose the safer options, and even those weren’t good. I have never returned, and I don’t think I ever will.
