Recommended by a friend, we came with high expectations. Greeted by super hospitable staff, the food didn’t disappoint. Bulgogi beef was good, so was the bibimbap, ja jang noodles & fried rice. The sauce for the pancake was spectacular! On a 38 degrees afternoon, I was craving for the infamous Korean buckwheat cold noodles. They didn’t have the type of cold noodles I wanted, tried a seafood cold noodles but wasn’t satisfied. Nonetheless, everyone was happy. The nice people even gave us a complimentary drink for having waited longer for the final main.
Best jajangmyeon in town! Totally recommended! And you can also share with ur friend as they give you generous portion 🙂 the aunty (which i think is the owners) also very kind and gave us free soup! Definitely will go back again
Wedged at the end of a strip of shops next to the railway line, it amazes me how Silk Road manages to stay in business. Usually, the restaurant is quiet, but don’t let the lack of customers fool you.
Silk Road serves one of the most authentic jajangmyeon / zha jang myun (black bean sauce noodles) I’ve had in Melbourne, tasting very close to what you get in Seoul. My other personal favourite here is the tang su yuk. Once again, I feel that this is better made here than many other Korean restaurants in Melbourne, many of which just can’t get the consistency and taste of the sauce right. The only let down I’ve noticed is that in recent times, the quality of the pork being used seems to be falling, with the pork being very hard at times.
Good service good food. Only 1 person serving but service was good. Got extra side dishes! Food serving was good value. Must get in before it gets busy
Worse customer service ever! This restaurant only have 1 staff and the staff was very unfriendly! However, they serves a very good jjajangmyeon and tang su yuk! The tang su yuk beef was crispy but the sauces was a bit sweet and the texture was too thick. The price was average.
Not impressed
Was looking for cheap and good chinese Korean take away but their serving size was appalling
Ordered LARGE size fried pork dish for 35$ and this was what we got (in the photos)
Can easily buy this portion for 10$ in other places
Also black bean noodles were too sweet and had too much MSG
Had to drink litres of water
The last time I was here, the food was really bad. But today everything is good! Except that in the black noodle there was a little less sauce. Rest all was good! Would come back!
