[S.owl – Wise Cuisine] Yes, you read that right and it was that enigmatic signage that had our curiosities roused.

Instinctively, we went in to check out the menu which turned out to be Mediterranean, and between their lunch and dinner menus, it was the latter that enticed us.

Arriving for an early dinner one evening, we were warmly greeted by Yiannis and his team, whilst a cosy and intimate setting awaited inside with soft lighting cascading from the ceilings and walls.

We sipped on some lovely sparkling pinot noir as we navigated through the menu with some guidance from Yiannis, who proudly divulged that everything from bread to pasta is made on premise.

With my partner at the helm of the wine list, our entrees were paired with a nice medium-bodied Tempranillo. Starting off with the Octopus, it was grilled to perfection, despite a couple of pieces that were slightly bitter from the charring, and the inclusion of pickled onions added a sweet and tangy symmetry to the dish.

Moving on next was the Saganaki of three cheeses. The sesame crusted feta and pan fried halloumi were delicious but my favourite would have to be the kefalograviera, where its saltiness worked amazingly well against the sweetness of the nectarines and molasses.

Our final entree of Lamb Kofta was just spectacular! From the meaty kofta to the smooth labneh, not an ounce of element was flawed. Superbly executed, this is one dish I would happily have over and over again!

The last to make an appearance was the Lamb Of Gods. Nothing short of presentation, the meat was incredibly tender, although a little nudge in the flavour department would do it more justice. As exciting as the name sounded, this one didnt quite leave a lasting impression on us. On the flip side, it went down well with our side of humble Chargrilled Vegetables and smooth, easy-drinking Shiraz.

Thankfully heeding Yiannis advise to share one main, we managed a portion of Creme Catalan which was neither too sweet nor heavy, and the addition of burnt almonds and zingy syrup brought out a different dimension of textures and flavours.

It is obvious that a lot of care and thought have gone into the venue and menu, and being quite the newbie on the block, this place is a breath of fresh air to the Carnegie food scene that is saturated with dumpling and noodle establishments.

Found this place as we were walking along Koornang Rd looking for something to eat. A new place it had only been opened for 3 weeks when we went. The menu is limited especially if you are a vegetarian or vegan. But what is available is very nice. The issue is service, it is very slow. We went a few days ago and you sit down and look over the drinks menu first but it took them 15 mins to come back to us to take our order and we didnt want any drinks. It then took us another 20 mins to get a menu and another 15 mins for someone to take our order. The food once ordered does come in a timely manner. I would love to give this place a higher score because the food is very tasty but for two things, service and range of vegetarian/vegan dishes.

A great addition to the food strip that is Koornang Road. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. This place has an extra plus plus in their food and drinks. Definitely filling a much need hole in the market. Ill be back to try the dishes I could fit in this visit.
