Fabulous location outdoors on a fine day. Im not so sure the indoor tables are as pleasant though. Great food, and good inexpensive wines. Probably needs a few more options on the menu that arent as carb-heavy. Service can be a bit clumsy, but friendly
I don’t believe the average reviews of this place! Seems like the coolest place in Castlemaine to go and have brunch! Good breakfast…. fantastic cold pressed coffee… baby friendly and what a fantastic view! Other reviewers must have been there on a bad day maybe 🙂

This cafe is located inside one of the old parts of the Gaol. it also goes under the name ‘The Governors Cafe’. Went up here by chance and was pleasantly surprised. The staff were extremely nice, welcomed me, asked about dietary requirements, talked about a few things. The coffee was amazing, had a few cups. I ordered the scrambled eggs and it was very nice, very hearty. Had thick bread, lots of eggs, nice mushrooms and tomato, and was very reasonably priced. They have a bar outside in an old shipping container. Will be back to check out that at night/ late afternoon sometime. Pictured is the scrambled eggs I had.
