I really wish Australia would catch up to the quality of the American Reuben sandwich.
Tried another Rueben and again I was left a little disappointed. Not enough meat. And meat was a little different to the usual meat used in a rueben.
On the plus side the coffee here was good and the staff were really nice. Maybe the other menu items were better, so will have to give them a shot next time I am in castlmaine.
Im guessing this place is named after the owner – a Short Angry F&@$@)@ who ordered us to leave after we questioned their very simple policy that works for us when managing customers waiting on a table. We were a party of five with a three year old and their policy required us to sit quietly in a narrow walkway inside the restaurant for 15 mins whilst we waited. When we asked if we could wait outside (away from tables) we were told no and that it works for us and if you dont like it you can leave. Possibly a comment made under pressure but nonetheless very inhospitable and showed a complete disregard for customers and lack of flexibility. Obviously too big for their boots on busy days and no interest in welcoming customers and showing a bit of flexibility for what was a very reasonable request! Best of luck with that attitude when the crowds have gone!
Very disappointing. I couldnt believe how rude the staff was, including management. With the choice of good cafes around here, I will definitely not return or recommend
Has a great experience here. Service was fast and friendly and the food was also very tasty. I had the pancakes which we tasty and soft with ample syrup.
Besides the absolutely lovely atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon and the tasty and filling Reuben I had, I have to highly commend the service here. As someone with nut allergies they did their utmost to cater and ensure that my allergies were accommodated with one of the kitchen staff coming out to talk to me about any possible risks and assuring me of procedures to reduce the risk and informing the kitchen that an allergy order was coming through. They were also very friendly and warm. A very happy customer!
Lovely little cafe/restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. It was packed when we called in but found us a table for 2. We ordered Eggs Benedict & a Bleat with coffee, all cooked to perfection and all delicious. We loved the bread they used, which is from local bakery. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Very enjoyable, Thank you
I have grown up coming to staffs. I live in Melbourne now and have seen the changes over the years good and bad. I always return when I come down to see my family though I love this cafe !!! Would love to have the back outside opened again as sometimes the front is too busy.
Only downfall is I’m not really treated as a regular and the service was lacking last time I came towards me and I felt unwanted.
