Came to Laffabar Charcoal Grill with some of my family – we were a table of 4. We got there quite early at 6:30pm and it was lucky that we did because any later youd need to make a booking as the place was packed and people were being turned away.
One half of the restaurant serves the takeaway clientele and the eat-in area is separate. Lots of men cooking the food in the open kitchen and only one waitress in the restaurant. However, she was amazing; super friendly and knowledgeable and super efficient. She couldnt have performed any better.
There’s a huge menu which includes Israeli dips and salads, falafel, fish, chicken and of course their signature dish of Schwarma. There were lamb, schnitzel and steak – just about everything you could think of.
We chose for the entre, the Chicken Drumettes, Merguez Sausage and the Laffa bread with garlic and a side of hummus. The drumettes were succulent and juicy – there were 6 of them which was perfect for an entre size and they were coated with the delicious Laffabar barbecue sauce. The Merguez is a spicy lamb and beef Moroccan style sausage which was spicy, flavoursome and it came out piping hot! It was served with sauerkraut and mustard on the side. The Laffa bread was great to share for an entre, ripping pieces off, dipping it in the hummus, the barbecue sauce or eating it by itself – just fresh and awesome!
For mains, we ordered from the grill, Aged Scotch Fillet Steak and the Skewers of Steak. All the steaks were cooked to perfection, as we ordered it. Those having the skewers could choose two sides. We chose Israeli salad, red cabbage, and onions with sumac. The Scotch Fillet Steak came with an amazing fresh garden salad with a vinaigrette dressing to die for! I ordered a side of the warm sauted mushrooms. We ordered a side of chips and they came hot and crunchy and were delicious.
For dessert, we shared a Dessert Laffa which was crunchy Laffa bread topped with chocolate sauce and fresh strawberries. It was heavenly and a perfect end to a delicious meal. I wish I hadnt shared it.
Unfortunately, the night we came, we were in a bit of a rush so wed love to come back and try more things and take our time.
A good place to come with lots of people as there were many things to share. Prices are on the higher side but probably due to it being Kosher but when the food and service are this good, you dont mind a bit.
Casual but nicely arranged dining place. Food is delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I had a grilled chicken burger and its full of flavours. It was fantastic! Service was good too. Apparently they only do take away for lunch on working days. But if you have a group of people they take lunch reservations even on weekdays.
