Food: Jody Mac’s does a fairly small range of snack foods and cakes. We love their brightly coloured sweet treats, which are also a good size if you want just a little something with your drink. Coffee is nice, on the better end of Southland’s coffee spectrum.
Atmosphere/Service: If you have young children this is ideal. It’s right by the children’s play area, and they will love the little iced cookies that Jody Mac’s do. As Jody Mac’s is at the end of a mall, if you can find a seat in the corner away from the sugar-fuelled children, it can also offer a quiet respite the hustle and bustle of the shopping centre. It’s more self-contained and out of the way they most of the other cafes. It’s bright and quirky decor is nice, and livens up what is essentially a very simple fit-out.
Would I recommend it: Yes, if you fall in either of the above groups (1. Have small children, 2. Want a quieter place for a quick drink and snack, in case you’ve forgotten, or you skimmed the rest of my review just to get to the good stuff).
