Ordered home delivery from Chi Ling as the first place I tried didn’t offer delivery. Had to repeat my address 4 times. Then someone else called me about 30 minutes later to check the address again as the first person’s level of English comprehension wasn’t sufficient to be able to understand the address. Delivery arrived 70 minutes after placing an order. Yes it was on a Friday, but I called at 5.45pm so well before their peak time. One dish was incorrect (I ordered prawns and scallops with garlic sauce, received satay sauce), again probably due to English issues. The sauce tasted great though, pity about the seafood. The scallops were watery and flavourless and the prawns were massively over-cooked. The fried rice was so salty it almost made my eyes water. Hot and sour soup was watery – this is the first time I have ever tried a hot and sour soup that wasn’t lovely and thick. One spoonfull and it went into the bin. The beef with a chilli-type sauce wasfine as were the singapore noodles. This experience made me swear I’ll only ever eat Chinese from my favourite places in Chinatown where the food is actually a proper testament to the cuisine.
