Love Hawat pastry’s baklavas, crispy pastry, great fillings with beautiful syrup. A great variety of baklavas and other sweets with friendly service to match.

Cake. Birthday cakes especially Black Forest cake with fruit topping
A must try. Great lebanese sweets. you cant really go wrong with whatever you order. A good alternative to balhas pastry if you want to avoid a queue
Top of its class.. For those in the know, this place is number one. Top quality and addictive, this sweet shop is a contender for one of the best Lebanese sweet shops. Highly recommended.
Middle Eastern sweets that are different to Balha’s. I still believe that Balha’s is the top Arab pastry shop on Sydney Road, bar none, and probably the best in Australia. But I’m always willing to bite the baklava and try other places, just to be sure. The rigours of research, I tell ya! So I popped into Hawat for some sweetmeats the other day. In addition to the many standard shapes of filo-and-nut pastries, they had things that are different to their copatisserie down the street. I got a little thing that looked like a deep-fried eggroll, only it was made with syrup-drenched filo encasing pastry cream with a smoky-sweet flavour. Like a Lebbo cannoli! Hawat had an array of semolina squares — bigger around than brownies! — that were studded with all sorts of nuts. Good sweet eatin’ even if they are $4 apiece. Last not not least tasty was a slice off something that looked like a coconut made of shredded wheat filo, with chopped pistachios where the coconut meat would have been. Good thing Hawat (and Balha’s) are on the other side of town from me. I don’t want to regain the 15 kilos I lost when I immigrated back down here…
Best sweets in Sydney road. The variety of sweets such as baklava here is amazig and they all taste so good! Mmmm so syrupy! Out of all the Middle Eastern sweet shops in Sydney rd this one is our fave. We are always going there to pick up a kg of mixed sweets to take to a friends house. The service is quite relaxed which may not appeal to anyone but I think they know they don’t have to bother to hard because you’ll come back anyway because it tastes so good!
