I visited the Boot Factory recently for the first time. I cant believe I havent tried this place so far, such a cool spot and a great cafe!
Set in the Pentridge precinct, this place has a history. They say it was the old prison boot factory, hence the name.
I had the chilli scramble which was a very filling dish with loads of chilli. Rolled into the scramble is not only the chilli but smoked bacon, spring onion and Parmesan cheese. And for a different edge it comes served on corn bread. I really enjoyed it.
I then tried the apple crumble Ricotta hotcakes which was the standout winner. Its one large hotcake and sometimes these can be undercooked, this was cooked to perfection. The ricotta gave it a lightness, the apple gave it sweetness and the crumble added a crunch. The perfect hotcake dish!
    A must try!
    Thanks for having us!

What a quirky little (or not so little) gorgeous cafe! Loved all the unique antique pieces with so many colours- its like taking a step back in time (in a good way). I arrived on a Sunday late afternoon expecting the rush to be over but being a Sunny day in Melbourne all the tables outside were pretty much full but there were a few great spots available inside. We were greeted with a very friendly waitress (the staff were fantastic). I
had to order the Hotcakes (of course) and even though Id seen so many photos- I was still very impressed and wowed when the dish came to the table. We also ordered the confit duck and this really exceeded my expectations- the duck skin was so tasty and that maple-it just worked.
Smoothies/ juices are a must! I think I would like to try each one on their menu.
The fig and apricot toast was stunning as was the porridge. What a wonderful cafe in the northern suburbs of Melbourne.

Its just great to have a local that serves up delicious food like The Boot Factory! Weve been here before but we were so excited to try their new menu and we were not disappointed. Our fav dish was the Confit Duck Leg but it doesnt mean the others dishes werent amazing. Definitely worth a try!

Well this cafe was a welcomed surprise. Catching up with some friends for breakfast, I had the funniest encounter with a young boy named Joey. Joseph is in grade 4 and attends the school down the road, but he comes in every morning for a chocolate milkshake with a ham and cheese toastie. He loves maths and science and is by far the most entertaining, confident kid Ive ever met and he certainly put a smile on all our faces. He also invited all of us to his Christmas school concert – bless! If youre ever here before school hours look out for him and say hi for me! Anywho a review is in order. This funky hipster cafe sits right amongst Pentridge Prisons remodelling, with mix matching pieces and antique items, the quirky set up is perfect for a breakfast or lunch. Acoustic tunes and lots of natural light makes for spot on ambiance with great service in toe. The food is well plated with the feeling of eating a delicious home cooked meal. Thanks for having us @thebootfactory x

+ Friendly service, fantastic layout and spas IOUs seating, natural light and yummy food
    – Avo was pre packet and the hot cakes were a bit too moist

The meals were nice. A wide selection of options, so youre bound to find something to suit. The cabinet also had a wonderful selection of gourmet sandwiches/rolls/quiches/pies, so again, it was designed to please all. The service was efficient and friendly. Main downside was the acoustics of the venue itself. Incredibly loud on a busy day.

Visited the other side of town and found this great cafe! Great food, and very strong coffee blends. The chilli scrambled eggs were delicious and the nourish bowl was quite yummy too! Very filling and left pretty satisfied. Defs check these guys out if you are in the area!

Boot factory is a really cute venue with a rustic look, it also has some history behind it (used to be a workhouse for prisoners that made shoes and boots).

    THE GOOD:
The staff were friendly, all food was presented so nicely! Very pretty, great insta photo opp. I had quite a few dishes:

Crushed Avo: Different presentation, deliciously toasted bread, not my favourite one I’ve had but still satisfies the only way an avo dish can!

Puffed Quinoa, Buckwheat & Coconut Granola: This was so pretty and I loved that you get to choose the milk you pour in. It had delicious fruit in it, however I personally prefer the usual granola not puffed quinoa.

Nourish Bowl: I love these bowls, so many great flavours and I loved the veggies in this! My only concern was the salmon was cold but I’m not sure if that was how it was meant to be. I still ate it though and loved it!

Sweet Potato fries: Okay do I need to say more?! Sweet potato fries speak for itself

Tropical Smoothie: The Coconut water in this makes it really refreshing and a perfect juice on a hot day!

Overall this is a great cafe if you’re in the area! Check my photos to see all the dishes
