N.Lee is very famous for their Bahn Mi in Melbourne. So I went there to try them out. After the first bite, they became one of my favorites. I got a grilled pork Bahn Mi ($6.30) with a little bit of chili. Vietnamese chili is the spiciest one I’ve ever had so I add a very small amount which is enough to add a little bit of kick to the flavor of the dish.
Wow. We drove a long way based on reputation and it did not disappoint. One of the best proportioned banh mi’s in the country. Excellent crunchy tiger bread that does not crumble, making it a low mess affair with a perfect ratio of crunch, marinated meats and pickled perfection.Highly recommend
Banh Mi thats all we need to say this place is an institution in the Collingwood area and its a reputation that has been rightly deserved. Doesn’t matter what time of the day there is always someone lining up for a Banh mi here. Not to mention they are reasonably priced and won’t break the bank. They also have some favourites here as well. Traditional sandwiches, hot food, pies, sausage rolls and donuts as well as other tasty treats. Outside of the banh mi, we love their spring roll snack packs.A recommendation for anyone in the area.
Probably the closest bánh mi you will get to being like what you’ll find in the Vietnamese enclave of Footscray/St Albans/Abbotsford! Perfect for when you crave a baguette with proper Asian butter/mayo and pate.
