Delicious bowl of ramen. Loved the broth. Only reservation was the seating allocated -in the doorway on a freezing cold Melbourne day when there were tables free but apparently unavailable -although later occupied by another single dinner. Pity as the incessant cold air compromised my enjoyment of very good ramen.
3.5
*Pork Belly bun – soft pork belly with a good cucumber pickle to cut through. The bun was nice and soft.
*Brisket & Kimchi bun – tender brisket well paired with acidic kimchi and rounded out with mayo.
*Pork Belly Ramen – shoyu soup had some deep flavour from the soy and mushrooms. The pork belly was very dry though, felt like it was way overcooked in the oven and dried out.
*Tan Tan Men – The roast beef brisket was tender, and the soup had some mildly spicy nutty flavours.
The noodles are made in house, but I’m not sure about the recipe, as they didn’t have that springy chewy resistance you get from proper alkaline noodles. It was almost like an al-dente bite you get from spaghetti.
A good option for locals as there are no other ramen shops around. It was pretty busy and the wait was around 10 minutes.
Quite a cosy restaurant, most people will be seated around the communal table, which feels right for the area – I was surrounded by interesting discussions of politics, war and drunken escapades.
If you have never had ramen then you might like this place. Alot of hype for not much return, the bar next door is pretty good to get past the soy sauce ramen soup and expensive plum wine. Sorry to leave this kind of review, I really wanted to like it but it just made me sad.
Great chicken ramen, the broth was delicious and it made me feel better since I was down with a cold. Overall, I enjoyed it even though it isnt super authentic but it was a satisfying lunch.
Came by here for a quick ramen fix. And for today, I had the pork belly ramen. The broth is clear and does not have the depth of meaty flavour of some of the other more traditional ramen shops. It wasnt bad though, in fact, quite the opposite. It had that umami kick, and the generous serving of just the right texture of noodles and pork belly meats was delicious. The addition of the soft egg, oyster mushroom and leafy veg all makes sense. Its not a big place, but you can see why the locals dig this place and come back for this bowl of ramen time and again.
The ramen here is really delicious but the wait times are always crazy long . As the restaurant is very small you have to wait awhile to get seated but even once you are seated , prepare to wait for your food . I cannot say it is worth the wait but its still yum nevertheless- my faves are the pork belly and bbq chicken ramen
