    Will come back for:
    + BBH Beef Noodle
    + Viet style coconut mochi

Xeom is a rustic, Vietnamese restaurant that certainly gives you feeling of having walked into a hawker centre in Asia. More importantly the dishes are all amped up in flavour and delicious. We had the grilled beef betel leaf skewers which were good but maybe taken a bit too far on the griller this time. The highlight for me are their noodles. We had a bowl of the tender beef and beef ball noodles plus the BBH beef noodle and these were both herbaceous, generous bowls of goodness. The broths were tasty and the meats super tender and with great punches of chillies. The viet style coconut mochi was a great way to round out the meal; sweet, textural and refreshing. The place may look deceptively empty, but dont expect super quick service (especially on weekends) as they had a steady line of take away orders from app delivery services. In fact, I think they need to have a separate cook for in house guest vs delivery as across the board food was quite slow to come out.

Soon as I walked in I had a great vibe about this funky hip restaurant…and I was not wrong as this was backed up with the great yummy and delicious food.

I was greeted by my waiter and after recommending a few suggestions we were feeling rather hungry .

Started off with the betel leaf, followed by the Sugarcane prawn which I have tried plenty of times but this was spot on with the prawn mixture which had a nice texture and was freshly fried and so delish.

For mains we shared the beef lemongrss& springroll with vermicelli noodles which was so refreshing. Along with the customer favourite Xeoms famous spicy lime rice noodles:- Chicken & prawns. This was amazing and punched a pack of flavour ( and if you are looking for more chilli heat we were also recommended to try the home made chilli paste ).
Followed by a glass of savvy b and traditional three colour drink this was a great meal and I did not leave feeling bloated. Thanks for the invite!

Like other recent and well credentialled reviewers, we really liked Xeom. Its a very nice place. The cuisine might be called modern Vietnamese We liked the tables. We liked the street influenced decor. We loved the modern music playing. We even admired the mini scooter tyre wash basin. Very clever. We also loved the open kitchen here. So much activity and so many lovely food aromas coming from the area.

Best and most important of all, the food Is really good here and it and the cafe well exceeded our expectations. The prawn harlow dumplings were delicious. Hot, beautiful plump and well cooked with great flavour and a wonderful dipping sauce. The duck curry with roti was specifically recommended to us and it is a lovely dish as well. Excellent rich flavour again with very good roti. The curry is a tad runny though so beware.

The papaya salad with prawn and chicken is a superb salad. Again, it has lovely flavours and textures complete with lots of peanuts and fried shallots. It was absolutely wonderful and was our nominated dish of the night. It was so refreshing that I made sure I finished the meal with a couple of mouthfuls of this excellent salad that Id held back. Those helped finished the meal perfectly. We both commented that this dish made us feel like we were back on the streets of Hanoi.

Xeoms famous spicy lime rice noodles with chicken and prawns has lovely lime flavour. It is a large serve as is the salad. The spice is slightly and delicately understated. Cracking dish as well this one.

Service was beautiful throughout. It was for all tables that we observed.

We would heartedly recommend Xeom. It is a terrific option. Our thanks to Xeom for the invitation to dine here.

We were lucky enough to have been invited to try their food. We definitely love the concept of the place. Having lived in Asia for a bit, we know how amazing street food is.

We started our dinner with chicken spring rolls, grilled betel beef skewer, and sugar cane prawns. Really like the the sugar cane prawns, the sugar cane gives the fried prawn a really nice flavour. The betel beef was also really nice as well.

For main, we had the Xeom’s spicy lime rice noodle and the bun cha hanoi. The rice noodle is a little spicy, sour and delicious. It is kinda like Pad Thai, with a Vietnamese twist to it. The bun cha hanoi is one of our Viet favourite dishes and Xeom did not disappoint.

We ended the meal with the coconut mochi with ice cream and three colour drink. The mochi and ice scream came in a coconut shell with the meat still on. It was nice to nibble the coconut and finish off with the drink after the meal.

What a great restaurant this is! Such a quirky and cool concept with the little streetcarts replicating a street food atmosphere. Immediately greeted by friendly staff who explained the menu and told us what the signature dishes were. There were 4 of us so we were lucky to be able to order a fair bit of food so I got to try lots of bits and pieces! The Duck Curry with roti was one of my favourites I loved the shredded duck in the curry sauce and such a nice smaller sized serving (from the starter menu), as its so easy to fill up on curry. The beef betel leaf skewers were amazing too I could eat so many of those. The salt and pepper eggplant was sensational crunchy, super flavoursome, and addictive!! The tender beef coleslaw was super refreshing and lovely to put on the crunchy crackers that came with it. The beef pho, rice paper rolls, spicy lime noodles, prawn Hargow and chicken satay skewers were all great too. I will definitely be returning!!

  • Good Food Good Mood

We were fortunate to be invited to Xeom last night, a stellar Asian restaurant in Collingwood. I loved the vibrant interior with colourful posters and bottles of chilli and fish sauce decorating the space. I enjoyed a fresh coconut as we perused the extensive menu.

We kicked off with some yummy prawn dumplings, lemongrass chicken rice paper rolls and chicken peanut skewers. What a fabulous way to start! We continued the trend of deliciousness with the beef betel leaf, and the duck with roti. All excellent entrees.

Main wise we tried the beef coleslaw which was akin to a fresh little zingy salad. I loved the presentation of this too. Next up was the salt and pepper eggplant which came highly recommended. This was dish of the day for me and I couldnt stop eating it. The spice coating was highly addictive and the texture was also bang on.

Mongolian beef and spicy prawn noodles were next. These were exceptional too, really full of flavour. I loved the sweetness of the Mongolian and I really couldnt fault any of the dishes. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had and wouldnt hesitate to return for round 2

A group of us called into Xeom tonight to sample some of the great Street food on offer in this cute
Little venue. Xeom has been open for over 4 years although the internals are still fresh and fun. The building has been stripped back to its basic elements and wall decorated with bottles, chilli and posters. A busy open kitchen at one end and when we arrived the place was busy with Uber Eats orders coming through thick and fast.

Food wise the menu is reasonably lengthy and all the classics are there in an unadultered state along with some fun twist and Xeom specialties.

Tonight we tried roti with a duck curry sauce, the steamed prawn hargow dumplings, chicken satay skewers, grilled beef betel leaf skewers and beef rice paper rolls.

I loved the roti with the duck curry which was flavour packed with shredded duck meat. My other favourite was the prawn dumplings which were served steaming hot with a great sauce on the side, and how could I go without trying beef betel leaf skewers which was delicious, but not so photogenic dish, that I could have eaten all to myself.

The mains were equally as exciting and included salt and pepper eggplant (eggplant continues to excite me atm), a fragrant beef salad with big hits of lemongrass. The beef salad came encircled with prawn crackers, perfect for scooping up the salad contents.

We tried the spicy lime rice noodle with chicken and prawn. There were a few in the group that were scared of chilli so we went for super mild and had fresh chilli on the side which helped give me the chilli kick I was after (in fact my eyes were watering from the final result).

The sizzling mongolian beef dish was just that but in no half hearted style… it sizzled away for an age and was another of my favourites.

At this stage we were all full but still had a pho to come. This was delicious with a well balanced mild broth. They had a range of pho including a combo version that had beef done five ways but we opted for classic beef which came out nice and rare.

An excellent range of dishes and I enjoyed everything I tried. Thanks so much for inviting us in.
