One wonders about the positive reviews of this place. Firstly, we were told that no changes could be made to our dishes. Secondly the staff were dismissive and abrupt.
Our pancakes were rubbery and no way they were cooked fresh. The pancakes were drenched in sauce, after asking for no sauce, which smacks of a petty attempt to show us the chef knows best. The coffee is mediocre and the decor tired and out dated.
Came here today for brunch with my hubby. It was rather busy but we were seated straight away. The staff were friendly and prompt even though it was busy. I had the eggs benidict which was divine! That hollindise sauce is irresistible! Hubby choose the pork belly. He polished off his plate too!! We finished with some amazing coffees. The coffees here is just as good as the food! Jasper is such a beautiful blend and the barista does it justice. The wait staff were very attentive and clearly care about their customers needs. 10 out of 10 from us! Can not wait to go back!
I was excited to see the Jasper Coffee signs, I’ve drunk soy for 30 years and have found, like many of the great Melbourne Cafes out there that Bonsoy is the best soy to use with coffee. It allows you to still taste the coffee and not just the milk. Unfortunately I found them to be using a soy that that does not do that and when I presented the alternative through constructive feedback, the Barista chose to be rude, defensive and just speak of her years of experience – however, that doesn’t explain the majority of other baristas out there in Melbourne choosing bonsoy. https://www.fivesenses.com.au/blog/the-trouble-with-soy/ – I hope this article helps. Do what you want, it’s your cafe, but I won’t be back after being spoken to like that or to have a soy coffee that just tastes off.
OMG! I have been here a few times, and as a local it has become my go to place for coffee and food! The staff are welcoming and always remember me. The coffee has a strong flavour. The eggs benidict, bought tears to my eyes, never in my life have i found a better eggs benidict anywhere. Keep up the good work!
We get there a few times a year for breakfast. Good service and staple reasonable meals, nothing spectacular but a nice street setting breakfast in the warmer months.
Ok food and good service. Went here for lunch and the food was passable but not inspiring. Menu is huge and looks like it is more of a breakfast / brunch place. Would come. Ack and try for breakfast.
A fairly average cafe in Croydon’s Main Street. It is spacious, but a little dingy, and with plain and uninteresting decor. The coffee was very good, and the vegetarian breakfast (hold the eggs) was up to standard. Didn’t find the loud commercial radio in the background to my liking.
