Best eaten whilst hot. This is your typical fish and chips/burger joint. I stopped in for a quick meal before a shift on one of the psych wards at the hospital down the street because I hadn’t eaten much since the day before, and I craved something filling and greasy. That’s just what I got. Sorry if I sound prejudiced, but I was a bit put off when I saw it was an older Asian woman running the place — I always expect fish ‘n chip shops to be manned by Anglo battler types — but she was smiley and fixed my order well.
This shop offers a good deal with a piece of flake, lots of chips, a potato cake (I’m coming to like those things) and a dimmy (why do these atrocities even exist?) and a can of soda for $9.50. The flake was your standard beer-battered piece of fish, nothing special, nothing awful. It all tasted good when it was hot, but the parts I didn’t eat before going on duty were not so great when I nuked them in the microwave a few hours later. That’s just the way it is with reheated fish ‘n chips, though.
