Best hot James doughnuts hands down. Nothing beats hot jam doughnuts on a cold Melbourne’s day. This business has been operating for ages I’ve been coming here since I’ve been 5 years old.
What’s not to like? Fresh donuts with a fluffy yet bouncy texture, sweet piped jam and a generous dusting of sugar. You know what’s better? Free donut giveaway from Metro. Bonus.
I may pay these guys a visit whenever I’m down at the Dandenong markets.
The donuts can be described as such: cheap super soft spongy fried sugary deliciousness especially when fresh! The warm dough going into your mouth just springs back and it’s definitely worth the money. Although I must say that they really don’t give you much jam in the normal ones, perhaps it’s worth paying 10 cents extra, but the jam filling is quite sweet on top of the donut but it does add to the traditional donut taste.
That being said, I wasn’t really served that well. Definitely efficient and fast (but I did go at 7:45am on a Tuesday morning) the woman that took my order didn’t interact with me nor had any form of smiling/ sincerity which took the experience down to a 4 star (apart from the little jam filling).
After a long week at work, my train suspended and I with the many other passengers had replacement buses ready. A charming and friendly lady at Dandee Donuts was on location giving out free donuts to myself and other passengers that were struggling to get home or to their destination. I’m not sure if Dandee Donuts were paid, if it was just the end of their batch/shift or they just wanted to bring a smile to those with the misfortune of transportation but regardless, to Dandee Donuts, I appreciated the gift and it made my week. And of course, the donuts were delicious, I shall look out for the team at the market. 🙂
