My husband and I stopped in for breakfast, the service, food and coffee were all good and the menu had good variety. Nothing fancy but nice all the same
Best coffee in Daylesford. The service is amazing and prompt. Don’t let the quiet look turn you off. It’s a hidden gem. The food will have you coming back!
Only ordered take away drinks. Good coffee. Disappointing hot chocolate, very weak. Babychino did not come with any marshmallows (perhaps we had to ask?)
Does Bocconcini survive its new look under new management?
Bocconcini, like most of the places to eat at Daylesford, have a unique opportunity to capture the tastebuds of locals and visitors. There’s not many options, so you need to impress.
Clean wooden floors and tables and exposed brick dcor sets a warm tone on a chilly winter’s morning, there’s room to move here, even when it’s busy, and boy, does it get busy.
The breakfast menu has all the crowd favourites, so there’s something for everyone.
The orange juice is from a bottle, which is unfortunate considering it’s never really like having the real thing, especially at that price point. The hot chocolate on the other hand is not too sweet and enjoyable.
We ordered the Big Breakfast with roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans, and chicken sausages served on large pieces of bread. Well cooked, seasoned perfectly with a sprinkle of chive. The ingredients were fresh without being too fancy. Large portion sizes that respects its pricing point but doesn’t do anything to separate itself from other establishments.
I believe that’s Bocconcini’s limitation, it doesn’t do enough to wow customers, maybe it doesn’t need to, but freshly squeezed orange juice and a breakfast with ingredients that create a tasting frenzy instead of well placed items on a plate is what makes a place memorable.
The service was spot on, they even came back a few minutes later after the drinks were served with a warm cup of milk to dilute the hot chocolate in case it was too strong. This shows a level of care that’s rarely seen. It’s appreciated and you feel looked after.
Bocconcini is a good choice, it delivers great food that’s just shy of being outstanding.
No end of foodie options in Daylesford, but after an indulgent breakfast at The Lake House and a special anniversary dinner planned that night we were after something a little lighter for lunch. Boccincini fit the bill perfectly. My smoked salmon bagel was fresh, light and perfectly balanced and Mr B really enjoyed his BLT. Great cafe!
We wondered why were tables available at Bocconcini on a Sunday for brunch when other restaurants had queues – 3 waitstaff and no service 🙁
