Delightful setting and friendly staff. The coffee could be a little bit stronger but otherwise an enjoyable local spot to enjoy reading the paper.

Our accommodation host gave us a voucher to enjoy complimentary tea or coffee for 2 and free scones with jam and cream if we bought a bottle of wine from the Bookbarn so we decided to give it a go. Unfortunately, the location is the only reason I gave this place any rating at all. It is a stunning venue right on the lake with gorgeous views. The coffee was undrinkable and the scones could put holes in the wall. If someone bought this place and served great coffee and good food, this would be a winning combination!

The Bookbarn is a warm and cozy place to go to escape the cold weather. You can come here to enjoy a warm cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate while tucking into a couple of Devonshire scones without burning a hole in your pocket. The scones were very average 2.5/5 but the welcoming service and view from our table was worth it. Did I mention views overlooking the lake? They also have an array of old books neatly categorised to assist you in finding a book of interest. We found some good bargains in the kids book section. Looking forward to my next visit.

Very warm people, just like the place. The coffee was good, and it feels better when you drink it walking by the lake, on a winter morning 🙂
    Good experience!

Didn’t eat here so i can’t rate that although the beautiful cakes etc on display did look very impressive. But it was the coffee that actually surprised me….If you drink it black then this was a definate Yes!

Gorgeous. So much better than the boathouse! Thanks for a lovely coffee experience, fabulous service- we came back a second time! Lovely book selection, delicious flourless orange and poppy seed cake.

We got the cosy table next to the fire and enjoyed the soup and a toasted bagel. Great view.
