So we just got into daylesford and were hungry for lunch so looked for something quick and easy and came across this place! The food was great – delicious in fact. I’d reccomend the pork and water chestnut dumplings along with the sizzling prawn hot pot and the Thai style beef cheek. Definitely recommended and will be back.
Good quality of food and a nice place to visit when you are spending the weekend in Daylesford. The hotel has a homely feeling to it even though its generally busy on the weekends.
After reading the reviews on this place, I was expecting something good. However this is anything but. Overpriced, average meals and strange menu. Would not return.
This place had the best sweet potato chips I have ever had. I also really enjoyed the desert, which was donuts dipped in a chocolate sauce and a chocolate fondant. I will definitely return when I am up this way next!
My score 3 stars. J & I occasionally have a 2 night getaway to Daylesford/Hepburn Springs. We’ve eaten dinner at FAH once on a week night – it is situated towards the outskirts of town. Nice enough interior, woman behind the bar was pleasant & helpful. Had a few nice (but not cheap) wines by the glass – not too many as we were staying in Hepburn & had to drive back. Food was expensive & underwhelming (possibly our expectations were too high after reading previous good reviews). In the end we struggled to find things we were excited to eat (which made the price all the more galling). I had a slightly modern take on a blast from the past – chicken stuffed &/or wrapped in something. J had a Salmon dish which was slightly better, but honestly it was the sort of thing we might cook at home for our once a week fresh fish dish (which added to the price pain again). Good safe pub food, but not great value IMO…
The Farmers is your quintessential regional pub offering up some seriously good food & wine, but like most regional establishments expect to pay way above what you would in urban Australia. Would I return? Probably not, $14 for 150ml of local wine is just too much Im sorry to say…
