Beautiful setting for a delicious lunch. Every dish looked and tasted amazing, including the side of potatoes and freshly baked bread. A must do is to head outside to enjoy coffee with a wonderful view of the lake. The service is impeccable too !

Its surprising to find this restaurant now is rated below 4? Its in such a great location with stunning lake views. We had the set course and everything were delicious. Its more of a traditional way of fine dining so nothing is too surprising, but of stable quality. We waited quite long for dishes and our friends kids almost fell asleep. Not a bad choice for a relaxing weekend dinner.

Nice place with some goodies or gifts to purchase. Coffee was done well. Really yummy sounding menu but most items have some protein in it so pay attention to words such a bubble & squeak.
Food came out quick enough and was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend the cured trout and mushroom ragu

We were really looking forward to lunch at Lakehouse as a high point of our weekend away. Certainly can say the food was nice, and nothing was wrong but nothing stood out, stirred the tastebuds, or the imagination. The truth is it all felt a bit dated. With some gastro pubs nowadays providing food that equals in technique and flavour… we were left feeling…a little underwhelmed. Given the cost ($380 for a la carte + drinks) we were disappointed as we were so looking forward to it, and its been outshone by other meals we have had lately. The staff were lovely, the setting is beautiful. We liked the food, but we expected to love it…

Loved our experience at The Lake House, what a beautiful place this is. We have eaten here many times and we also stayed with them for this visit. It feels like you have visited someones gorgeous country home.

The menu was perfect, such clever and imaginative dishes to select from. We chose the tasting menu and it was delicious with many dishes stealing from various different cuisines from around the world.

The wine list was interesting with many local selections on offer.

    Cant wait to return again.

When you hear people talk about the Lake House there is a certain expectation about the food, innovation, service and atmosphere that you expect from a two-hatted restaurant; and this beautiful quaint establishment overlooking Lake Daylesford does deliver.

Hubby and I were celebrating our birthdays and wanted to have a relaxing romantic lunch. As much as I would have loved to have a go at the 8 course degustation we opted for the 3 course a la carte menu. For entrees we had the smoked kingfish and the squid/scallops which were extremely tasty. However, for those who arent big fans of seafood like I am might find the kingfish dish a bit overwhelming in its fishiness.

For mains we opted for the Pork share plate, which came with pickles, croquettes, funghi served with buckwheat and a side of their russet potatoes. This was an impeccable dish and Id highly recommend it to those who get the opportunity to visit. Finally for desserts we opted for The Pear, which was a mixture of white chocolate, mousse and fruit all made to look like a pear. The meal finished with complimentary tea/coffees and petit fours which was a lovely addition although I was completely stuffed by that point.

Go and enjoy the Lake House and the views that come with it, youll definitely enjoy it.

Welcome to our 2000th review! Its been an adventure to get here and glad this restaurant is it. This has been on my bucket list to do and totally exceeded my expectations. The brainchild of Alla Wolf-Tasker, the dishes are not only splendid to look at, they definitely back it up with flavour.

As we had booked quite a while in advance our table looked onto the glass doors leading into the balcony and the stunning lake. Great first impressions and a wonderful start! The service was top notch. They were casual enough to be conversational but formal enough to be a 2 chef hat caliber.

We decided to splash out and do the 4 course lunch which includes an entree, main course, cheese course, and dessert. If you so choose you can substitute to have 2 cheese courses or 2 desserts as your heart desires. As part of the package you also get wonderful sourdough bread (so fantastic they offered us more and took up their offer), side salad, and tea or coffee, and a sweet indulgence. There ar also crackers with a sauce at the start too.

We had the Chestnut Pasta & Squid. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Pasta was a ravioli filled with an oozy duck egg yolk served with mushrooms. The squid was accompanied by other well cooked seafood and a silky butter sauce.

Next was the Dry Aged Duck, Blue Eye Trevalla, and Sher Wagyu. Each dish exceeded the expectations of each diner. My duck was perfectly cooked and had confit in a carrot. Flavours were balanced. Salad was dressed well. Our sides of Seasonal Greens & Potato were on point. Loved the potato as had a lovely crisp texture that I havent had for a while. Not sure how they made it so crispy but loved it.

The cheese course and desserts were exemplary. The Swiss Cheese has theatre galore as they use a slicer to make pretty flowers out of them. The Pear was a triumph in both looks and taste. A white chocolate shell encasing mousse and stewed pears then sprayed to look like an actual pear was fantastic.

We had a wonderful day out and can not highly recommend this restaurant enough if youre in Daylesford. It may be pricy but definitely worth it!
