Went there for lunch, the place is beautifully furnished and has a great ambience. The staff are helpful and attentive. The food is superb and is brought out at reasonable intervals. We took advice on which sake to have with each type of food. There is also a reasonable selection of Japanese beers. Expensive but no complaints!

Spent dinner on NYE at Sakana. It was absolutely beautiful and soooo tasty. Each dish was unique and came out quite fast. It was a set menu for the day instead of the regular a la carte menu. The NYE set menu included 5 courses @ $160 pp.
    courses:
    Cured salmon
    Morton bay bug
    Pork belly
    wagyu steak
    And a white chocolate parfait
( of course there were fancier names and descriptions but thats what I could remember.)
I was a bit worried but it was absolutely divine and I loved every course! The only pictures I remembered to take before digging in!

Delicious food with lovely Japanese flavours, lovely setting and good service. Unfortunately serving sizes are tiny. Like fine dining course size tiny so if you are hungry and intend to fill up, expect to pay close to 200AUD. I am a very small eater in general (read kid-sized portions) and I was still hungry, which almost never happens.

My husband and I are here on a recent trip to Daylesford after our wedding.

We went for the banquet option. Both of us were impressed by the quality, flavour and presentation of all of the food we ate. Service was fantastic, although it seemed like a pretty quiet night.

Overall we were very surprised to have such a wonderful Japanese dining experience in Daylesford. We definitely will be returning if the opportunity arose.

Absolutely amazing! We had the banquet they were able to cater for pescatarian and we loved every dish. The service was perfect, wine choices lovely and exceptional tea. Thank you

Mixed experience. We opted for the banquet menu after being informed of it including most of the dishes we were hoping to order separately. The service was exceptional and food was delicious up until the point when the mains came out. We wouldn’t have chosen the banquet menu if it was subject to change without us being informed.
We were anticipating the snapper (being recommended to try by friends) and pork belly as this was explained to be part of the banquet menu for the night, however we received the pork katsu and shio koji chicken. Disappointing that we weren’t informed beforehand and had to take it upon ourselves to find out that the snapper had ‘sold out’ and that the pork would be the katsu – it seemed as if because our booking was late we received what was left over.
Would go back again as the food was good but would not recommend the banquet option, our experience did not make it worth the amount of money we paid for.
